Speaker 1:

Oh wait, you know what Screw that? I got something way better. Just a little bit Thanks to Jeremy for this.

Speaker 3:

Let's go boys.

Speaker 1:

What is up everybody? Welcome to another episode of the Chasing Daylight podcast. Hell of a weekend. Hell of a weekend Nights won the cup. They had four days of drunkenness parades, craziness Joe was our live reporter from the chaos. And, before anything, congrats to the Golden Knights, your 2022-23 Stanley Cup champions.

Speaker 3:

And the parade MVP William Carlson, while Bill, he's a legend.

Speaker 1:

He has elevated his status so highly just by being drunk. He almost didn't even make it to that because he tripped on the way onto the stage. I said to him I go oh he's hammered, just let's let him get up there and just ramble. It was awesome. So pissed the PR girl cut him off.

Speaker 4:

It's weird. A few stores and I can't even remember where I went, but I've heard like four conversations, just standing in line or wherever, about Carlson being so shitfaced at the parade. In grain in someone's people's memories here.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it was awesome. I thought I said one of the funny moments. I don't know how much you could tell down there ground level, joe, but when George McPhee was up there talking about the action the commitment to the team and the, the for you sports and the role models, and 30 feet to his right bunch of shirtless hockey players pouring champagne and beers for everybody.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, i mean those, those the boys enjoyed the moment. I have I know nothing against them for doing that And I think, it being Vegas, like totally they they handled it perfectly. There were no terrible situations, there were no issues down down there, shot out Metro, i mean, like it was. It was a fantastic parade, a fantastic celebration And I think Carlson wrapped it up perfectly. Like the dude doesn't talk much during they none of them ever talk much during their. You know, it's usually like we got to get, we got to get on the boards, we got to forecheck better, blah, blah, blah. Like it was, it was perfect. It's what everybody wanted. All the fans wanted that And they delivered it. And it was, it was perfect.

Speaker 1:

Like you want to talk shit, go win a cup.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, that'll, that'll live in infamy, like I love George McPhee. But let the boys do what they do, because they're the ones who want it. Yeah, you piece it together, but those boys want it and they pour their heart into it. So let them have fun and we all enjoyed it. Nobody everybody wanted more of it, like so.

Speaker 1:

I mean, i wanted to hear from Patrangelo and I wanted to hear from you. Know, i don't know did. Did Aiden Hill get to say anything? I can't remember The the but shout out Aiden.

Speaker 3:

Hill rocking the Larry Johnson. Oh, the adage is, he was epic. Yeah, it was.

Speaker 1:

Fantastic. The coverage was kind of crappy The when the aces had their parade. Several of the ladies were fluent in curse language and they weren't bleeping any of it, so I'm sure everybody got a a talking to about that and cause they had like a 15, 20 second delay, it just went quiet and then he's talking. So I never I didn't hear his speech until I started. I saw it later on Instagram, but shout out at VGK moms on Instagram.

Speaker 3:

I know it's a weird name, but, like at VGK moms, they post a lot of VGK stuff that's in the uncensored versions on there, so I highly recommend going listen to it, watching it, yeah, hope. I would love to just play golf with some of those guys at some point.

Speaker 4:

All right, I'm about to be jumping in some DMs.

Speaker 3:

Cause I think it'd be incredible.

Speaker 1:

Hey, so something new. Tonight We're giving this a shot. We're testing it out first time ever. If you want to, if you're listening on Riverside by any chance or you know you follow us, send in to the live feed. I am broadcasting this right now, or we are broadcasting this right now on you, on your team.

Speaker 3:

We're team we're team.

Speaker 1:

We're team. Yeah, it's on YouTube right now. So if you, if you want to see our ugly mugs while we talk about the golden nights and golf and St George and the US open head on over, chasing daylight podcast is YouTube channel, we're on there. There's a live chat. If you want to chime in, i will try to manage that as much as I can If anything pops up on it, so just be patient with us. But, yeah, that's another form that we're bringing to try and you know, get some more engagement and bring the show to more people. So check that out and, hey, make sure you follow, like, subscribe. And you know, smash that bell is what they say, smash that Well, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4:

Smash all the buttons.

Speaker 1:

Smash Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Smash all the just smash them, all, just smash them.

Speaker 1:

So before we get into the US open talk, i do want to thank Bob and Trey and Cyrus for hopping on. We put out two episodes last week because it was kind of a messed up week for us with my little trip to Palm Springs, but I replayed the we sorry, we replayed the Harry Hall interview from right after his Shriners tournament where he finished at a top 10. So his name is kind of popular now because he's been playing really well and we're always talking about him. So I wanted to put that out there for everybody to listen to. So if you listen to that, thank you very much. And then the round table talk that we had about the PGA and the PIF and live and all that before the US open talk was really good And we got some good feedback from some people. And a lot of people think we went a little too easy on the PGA And I was kind of surprised at that. I didn't think we were like light on them. You know, i just anyways, anyway, people are entitled their opinion and that's why we talk about stuff like that, but I definitely want to thank those guys for PGA. They're going to get my FBGA shirt next We made some up.

Speaker 3:

We made something up there.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah. So yeah again, thanks to the guys for coming on and we look forward to having them back. You know, cyrus, i put a thing out today, just a little while ago, saying Hey, we're recording tonight, got any questions for us about Black Desert or the US open, and Cyrus Chymdan, adam and Chris Torres. So we'll get to those in a few. But first I want to talk about Black Desert because the three of us and Dan Bogey free 62 traveled up to St George Saturday morning to check out this new place right here And I want to let. I'm long winded, i'll talk forever. So I'm going to start with the quietest guy, jeremy, who, who everybody says, needs to talk more because I think you're such a valuable asset to the show. So let's start with what's your, what's your thoughts on Black Desert Resort.

Speaker 4:

It's. It's. It's funny. It's just kind of odd because nothing else is finished around it. But there's this amazing golf course. It's incredible. I enjoyed it. It's probably my favorite course in Utah that I've played that's publicly accessible at the moment. I love the course. I thought the holes were all incredible. There wasn't really any holes that I feel were boring, and maybe it's because it was the first time we played, but it was awesome. I love the. The Black Rock around the course, the views, the views were really distracting. Like every hole you turn a different direction as you. Just in off from the red rock and the hills and man, i heard that. I know that they posted that they're never going to go private, but I'm sort of afraid in the back of my mind it's going to be like in Trada, where it was public for a bit and then they went private and then they went resort, so and fees may go up. So it may have been the cheapest time we'll ever play there, but I would highly recommend it. It was incredible. I loved every minute of it.

Speaker 1:

Joe, what, what do you got?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I think I think it was great. I think it was. it still felt a little unfinished to me, obviously, because some of the car pass are not done And some buildings are built. The routing was good. But I think I mean dealing with that Black Rock out there, like obviously you can only do so much because it's it's probably hard to route a golf course out there and build the golf course on what they built the golf course on. But I feel like they could have done a little bit better on the routing potentially. I don't you know, who knows, who knows if they could have done better, but I think 18 would have been great, finishing into snow canyon and whether they call it Padre Canyon or whatever. But it was, it was fantastic. I thought it was worthy of a second play, 100 percent like it's a course that you should play two times. Totally. The service was outstanding. Definitely want to get back out there. The amenities are great. The putting course, the two, the 36 hole putting course was fantastic, ridiculous. I mean it doesn't beat Punch Bowl in my opinion, but it's it's the closest thing that will have to it, within 100 miles or 200 miles of Vegas, that's for sure. But the Greens were amazing, hard to read, but they were true, fast and rolled amazingly A lot of blind tee shots. I mentioned that. It reminded me of a desert Maclemore, without trees, i guess, and that could just be some of the rocks and the fairways or some of the blind tee shots that you face out of Maclemore. But I think it's totally worthy of a trip out there 100 percent, if not two or three, i think, like I said, worthy of two plays, 100 percent. And I can't wait to see the finished product when the resort's built. And obviously that's probably going to bump up the price a bit, but it's if, if you have the same play package.

Speaker 1:

I think it's going to be worth it.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, and I think if you have the opportunity to go do it, like go do it now and then go do it when it's finished, complete, like just get out there. Black Black Desert is is sick, like the amenities are fantastic And I I would agree it could potentially be the greatest golf course in southern Utah, but I play.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to go right out and say, yeah, it is, because if you look at, i mean, san Joulo has the crazy amazing views on the back nine and they've got the little pitch and putt course and they got the nine hole links course, which really makes that a great place. You could spend all day there. But the rest of the golf there is is not that spectacular, It's not that great, and there are some basic holes at Black Desert. It's not, you know, it's not. You know video game golf, every hole It's not spectacular. One thing that kind of surprised me is when you, when you're not looking north towards a snow canyon and you're looking more towards back towards St George, you feel like you're at a Muni golf course. Yeah, because you don't have the dramatic views, you don't have the dramatic rocks. It's a dirt lot next to a side road going to a neighborhood And I thought some you know fabricated hillside with trees to kind of seclude you from that would kind of enhance the overall experience of being on that. You know pretty exclusive property, but you never know that.

Speaker 3:

That may, they may do that down the road, but when we were on, like the, worst thing I could think of, though. Yeah, like number five. I think that was that. Five was the short par for, i think. And you see the telephone poles and there's cars.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, there's cars And it looked like oh, this is Decatur and Charleston No more like, more like Craig and yeah, yeah.

Speaker 3:

We're like there might be a ranch house around the corner but and we don't know. I mean, it's brand new, it's been open a month Three months.

Speaker 4:

They open the back in November So we're like trial play or whatever.

Speaker 3:

But yeah, yeah, they did do a nine hole, i think, but I think they, i think the nine hole preview was like one four seven. I think I'm not 100% on that, but that could be. that could be why the, you know, there's dirt paths and like cross here and you know, i'm really excited to see what it's going to become because they're they're building. It looks like a turn shack, like a snack bar, the Oasis. The Oasis, you know, after, i think it was after 11. 11. I think it's called the Oasis, i mean, and there's, it looks like they might be building a short course, Who knows? And it's going to be. they're putting a lot of money into that place, so it's going to be. It's going to be exciting to see what it becomes And you know it's. It's fantastic already and it's probably going to be more fantastical soon.

Speaker 1:

So I had somebody on Instagram ask me Miller 1643, is it worth 250. And so subjective I thought about it for a second, so this was my response. I said you know it's hard to answer. It's a damn good golf course, crazy good scenery, the practice area is legit, it's arguably the best course in St George and the customer service is over the top. So is is. Is that worth 250 bucks to you?

Speaker 3:

Because I think very subjective.

Speaker 4:

So here's the thing. I enjoyed 50 right now, like I, don't know, if this may change in the future, but we got, and the practice facility is incredible. You could get there a few hours before your tea time and practice every part of your game. The other one is we got food included. We got a taco truck, which may have been, you know, 20 bucks worth of food or something. They gave us some, yeah, and it was unlimited, but really. Damn it. Yeah, i mean, i thought, the limit might be three tacos because,

Speaker 2:

that's what Matt ordered and I ordered four like by mistake So like they didn't say nothing about the eye.

Speaker 3:

So I think we could have just went there for breakfast instead of first watch, which was great.

Speaker 1:

First watch was Oh yeah, Shout out to first watch. That's some good food.

Speaker 3:

But we could have done that and then got lunch too. So the back tag thing.

Speaker 4:

Cool High quality metal back tag with your name on it. That's pretty nice. So I mean 250. It might have been around 200, really with with the perks right now, but I don't know.

Speaker 3:

For those watching live on YouTube one of you It's got the your name They, these are. These are, these are great High quality.

Speaker 1:

I threw it. I don't have any bag tags on my bag.

Speaker 3:

I threw that one on my bag because it's it's pretty sick. I'm going to have to move one to throw that on there.

Speaker 1:

But yeah, and they're, they're in trailers right now because the the resort is still being built, but they, the trailers, are done up. Nice, nice bunch of branded bills and Travis Matthews selection on some hats and there's some apparel and I mean it's, it's, yeah, it's a good little spot. I mean, there's some there's some built clubhouses in this town that aren't that nice That that that trailer is sick, like it's a well done trailer, you know.

Speaker 3:

So that probably only tells you how sick like the actual pro shops going to be, because the trailer itself is pretty sick.

Speaker 1:

So I love it. We pulled up. They have a parking lot attendant. I'm going to call them. I don't know if they have a title that access or time they verify it. They take our bags. Joe was blown away. They wind ex down the. The golf cart before we got into it, cleaned it all, make sure it was, and they're brand new golf carts. They're really nice. Yeah, we went inside, got checked in, checked out. The pro shop. You go to your cart and he goes. I'll lead you out to the range. So you follow him out to the range And then he introduces you to the range. Attendant, the practice facility attendant. And you know any questions you got about the course. You need some teas, you need some yardages. They're there to help you out, wipe down your clubs, get you all ready, and then they've got music speakers all over the practice. The putting green which we were talking about it last night. We're telling Bob about it. We went from one end to the other and we tried to put as far as we could. I mean all of us like smashed a ball And I don't think any of us got 60 percent of the way. Tops, yeah, tops, it's. It's ridiculously long. It's a 200 yard green, yeah, but tons, tons of fun breaks. It's like Joe said, it's. It's the closest thing we have to the punch bowl in this region of the country. Definitely worth that. The practice area, the mats they have mats and grass The mats are really good too, really good.

Speaker 2:

All really good, the best mat I've ever hit off of.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, plenty of targets to hit at. They had, you know, a chipping area that was really nice, with tons of different lies and a bunker which I should have hit out of that bunker just to see what it was like. I got some use on the course. But And then they head you off to the first tee. The starter of the first tee was great. Gave you a ball marker and a divot tool and, you know, sent you on your way. The putting green by the first tee, Holy crap, Yeah probably the nicest putting green I've ever put it on. Yeah, it was flawless, Yeah, flawless. And that first hole, it's a great opening hole, uphill dog leg left. I got a video of Jeremy hitting it. You know little pitch into it It's, and from there it was a. You know it's a really good round. I enjoyed it. The one of the things that I really liked was having Tom Weiss Goff and talk about each hole. Yeah, Yeah, They do a flyover and the flyovers are kind of crappy because they were done as they were building the golf course. So, you know, I'm sure those will get updated as time comes on, And it's you know and I'm sure Brian, or did those flyovers right? Probably.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, so, and also shot a Brian or Yeah, he was two groups behind us and three groups behind us.

Speaker 1:

We, joe, had to get to a parade So we didn't get to chat with him at all But that having him tell you about the hole and why he designed it And you know, the first part three is a copy of the Riviera part three with a little donut hole bunker that Dan hit into and then put it out of, which was pretty damn cool, yeah, but just an overall overall great experience.

Speaker 3:

And I think I think we're blazing fast. They are quick. Yes, i think Weiss Goff totally called it. I think it was hole 13, when he's guaranteed that someone was going to play out of the next hole over. Yeah, he guaranteed it, right He?

Speaker 1:

guaranteed. He said there's a guarantee that someone in your group is going to play from the next holes. very well, Out of the four of us the big draw himself Mr.

Speaker 4:

Jeremy, mark, he pushes it right, fade over the lava. He was in the fairway.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, amazing.

Speaker 1:

Hey Jeremy, do you want to give anybody any cautionary tales about it's?

Speaker 4:

it's wise to not walk around and climb the lava rock because you will end up on your face. They move the rock move. Yeah, i'm still feeling the pain from that in my arm. But yeah was trying to find Dan's ball in the rocks and I was trying to be helpful and I was walking around in one of the rocks moved and I just smacked into the ground. They basically had first, and then I kind of look around like hope no one saw that and Dan's like peeking over the rocks. You okay, jay, like I don't know what just happened.

Speaker 1:

He said like a concerned father.

Speaker 4:

Are you okay?

Speaker 1:

Are you okay, are you okay? And then we were like oh shit, he must really fall.

Speaker 4:

Jay, i'm going to go in the rocks. You just stay here. I'm going to. I'll try to find you a safe passage. But yeah, don't climb around the rocks, because there's a lot of them and I'm pretty sure some people are going to die in golf carts on that course, especially once they get their liquor license. Yeah, i believe so.

Speaker 3:

Those those are going moving, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Fastest golf cart I've ever been in, that's 100 percent.

Speaker 3:

I mean TPC Summerlin. Tpc Summerlin carts move quick and I think, I think Black Desert has to at least a mile on them.

Speaker 1:

I was like in the dirt spinning out like Duke's hazard type shit. I mean they're fast, yeah, and Joe, i will 100 percent agree with you. The 18th hole is very lackluster, yeah, and it's probably the biggest downside of the golf course. You've got that just incredible view of Snow Canyon and those that mountains. There's so much of it to absorb And the whole time you're coming in it's off to your left and you can't see it.

Speaker 3:

And it's, i agree, i think, if they could have changed that routing just a little bit to where your final shot you're hitting into that mountain range would have been Yeah, i mean I'm not I'm not an agronomist or a Golf architecture person, like obviously I like golf architecture, but I feel like they totally 100 percent could have made that 18th hole a dog leg left to finish into Snow Canyon and put the driving range between 18 and one or 10, 18 and 10. I think they could have done that, which would have been, which would have been great. I mean, like the par five and then the par four, like those would have been better finishing holes. And they're spectacular finishing holes and great, but there's some great holes out there and definitely want to play it again. But the topic of is it worth it? It's so subjective And if you want to play it, you should go play it now because I think it's going to cost more.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I don't think you would be disappointed paying what you did once you're finished and you look back at the round and you're there and enjoying it. I don't think you would. I don't think you would regret it for sure, and it's only going to get better, no what.

Speaker 3:

It's just tag food drinks.

Speaker 1:

I mean not non-alcoholic drinks, but I mean, the beverage girl was really nice. The guy at the end with the frozen towels Yeah, just Dan hit this. Yeah, absolutely ridiculous shot.

Speaker 3:

He was 280 out in a fairway bunker and with his new stuff He had he had at least two feet to like clear in the bunker.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it wasn't flat. No, it was not flat And he carried the green from 280. Flew the green, sorry.

Speaker 3:

From 280. Three force through landed, three force into the green, for sure.

Speaker 1:

And so we, we pulled up and and the kid, the attendant, there with the towels and and wiping your clubs down, and everything was like, did he hit that out of the bunker? No, yeah.

Speaker 3:

Yes, Was that you guys?

Speaker 1:

Oh yes, Was that you guys? Yeah, I saw the rake and I was like no way He did that That's one of the best golf shots I've ever seen. The ridiculous shot.

Speaker 3:

Oh my God, That was a big one, huge.

Speaker 1:

You know, i, just I. I was 260 out. No, i was 260 the front and I smashed. My five would probably the best five would on the golf course I've ever hit in my life. And I'm like everybody's just getting ready to watch Dan hit this shot. They're not. I'm like you know, nobody saw that. And then Dan just fucking terrorizes this golf ball with a 280 yard shot And I was like, wow, ok, my place.

Speaker 3:

I didn't even. I didn't even see it. I heard it and I was like holy shit, he smashed that one And I was like looking at the green and it just just saw it go past the green. I was like holy shit, That was, that was 270 out of the bunker up slope. Yeah, just two feet of clearance at least. Insane It was ridiculous.

Speaker 1:

It was fun to see anybody else pull off a shot like that.

Speaker 3:

A lot of little touches also on the par threes with it. They have like the numbers like that they change daily and the the T markers are fantastic fantastic service, incredible service.

Speaker 1:

The secret t box.

Speaker 3:

On on yeah, I don't know what it is We're going to tell you a lot of people are like that You're hitting off of a Astarturf greens on all the holes.

Speaker 1:

It's like no no, just the secure hole They built, that it's so damn cool, because it makes it especially where the flag was.

Speaker 3:

When we played it. It was yeah maybe even cooler where the flag was where the other T boxes are.

Speaker 1:

It makes it kind of a kind of a cool hole. not anything special, but where we were you could almost. Yeah, you could almost see you know Weisskopf up there going. Damn, it'd be fun if there was a T box here. Yeah, this is a cool shot. This is a cool shot We can do that.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, huh, yeah, we just built a fig run which is also a double green, So that's a little thin but it's, it's it was amazing, it was a really cool, really cool experience. So and very hidden. If we didn't know, I'm sure we would have drove right by it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, because it you're right, You're right, it's very is very camoed comes out of nowhere at you.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, especially with how quick and I think you're going to have that 19th hole, i think it's right after nine.

Speaker 4:

In between, like the back of 18 green and nine green, there's a short par three down the hill. Yeah, we saw some green boxes back there, but it's sort of by the edge where the resort is being built. but that'll be pretty cool too.

Speaker 1:

A little downhill par three, oh yeah coming home You get the ninth little wager hole.

Speaker 3:

I love it, i think they're doing a really good job out there. They're putting a lot of money into it and they know what they're doing. So, yeah, and what is it? It's only going to get better.

Speaker 1:

Was it the fourth hole where, if you're, if you pull the ball or hook it, you?

Speaker 3:

can kill somebody. The house with glass. Well, you'll shatter a window.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, oh, my beautiful home, beautiful home. That pickleball court right next to the fairway with all their landscaping right there, was just amazing.

Speaker 4:

But wow that is a death trap.

Speaker 1:

That is a death trap, yeah, but so my, my advice for Black Desert if you're going first off, go go book.

Speaker 3:

Yeah it's it's doing now before it's more expensive.

Speaker 1:

Yes, yes, stay out of the rocks. There's so many holes and caverns. If your ball goes into the rocks, the chance of you finding this slim to none.

Speaker 3:

And if you find it, if you're medicine, split into their jacket, watch the flyovers and pay attention.

Speaker 1:

There is a ton of shots where you have no idea where to hit the ball and where you should lay up that. I got lucky on a lot of mine that you know. I avoided the trouble. But, man, if you're not careful you can get yourself in some serious trouble really quick. And take advantage of the tacos Yes, take advantage of the tacos. Are you got anything else you want to wrap up on the Black Desert?

Speaker 3:

I think you wrapped it up. I think I think if you're contemplating playing or taking the trip out there, go do it now, because I 100% foresee that it's going to be more expensive than it is now. It's in great condition already. It's going to get in better condition, i'm sure, but it's in great condition. Condition right now. The greens are fantastic. There's some spotty areas in spots, but to be expected. But I think if it's a course that you want to play and you want to check off, go do it now. Don't wait, because you're going to want to play it again And I can see this course being 350 at some point. Yeah, and I think this adds Right. I agree 100% because the service is definitely top, i think having that course there.

Speaker 4:

it's really going to make St Georgea destination a golf destination, because you have, i mean, it already kind of is, but it's sort of still that hidden gem where a lot of people that are.

Speaker 3:

I've already seen like people posting videos of it and they're like in the comments because I like to read comments and they're like where is this I got?

Speaker 4:

to go play Sound Hollow Yeah it's going to explode. Now we've got Black Desert. You've got Intrada, Yeah.

Speaker 3:

Tech Hills. You got Tech Hills right there.

Speaker 2:

There's so many courses.

Speaker 4:

So if you need it, if you don't know where to go play golf for a trip, St George you.

Speaker 3:

Red Tech Hills, st George, is such an underrated golf trip destination and we're lucky to have it two hours away from us. Yes, and good ice cream, and great ice cream. Good Mexican food.

Speaker 1:

And good sugar. They're going to host an LPGA event in 2025.

Speaker 3:

Yes, And that's that's when it's going to bump to 350 after that.

Speaker 1:

Probably So good times, go get it, get yourselves out there and have some fun. Ok, before we get into the US Open, mr Gontaric is back. Hey, maybe.

Speaker 3:

Go, let's go. Maybe we are the champions will all like forever change. my, that was a like. It's an incredible now.

Speaker 1:

There we go.

Speaker 2:

What's up guys? Mac on Tark, back here with the JC daylight podcast, is a beautiful weekend for golf clear skies, mostly sunny conditions and we're dry. That's the most important thing. I know it's been a pretty wacky June so far, but we look dry all of this week And in the upcoming weekend. Temperatures are back in the upper nineties. Saturday 96 100 degrees, the forecast high on Sunday. So we haven't hit 100 yet this year but it looks pretty good to hit it again This upcoming weekend, finally hitting it for the first time. But we're warming up. Saturday and Sunday dry conditions again, wind speeds 10 to 15 miles per hour. It'll be a perfect weekend to tee it up.

Speaker 1:

Sir, welcome back. Maddie G. Welcome back Back. I should have got his forecast yesterday and might have decided to stay home, holy crap. I told you. I said you couldn't have warned me. And he's like, yeah, i get excited about it. I said hey, i need a live high speed, record speed, wind speed for Bally High. And he's like you're not out there playing, are you?

Speaker 2:

I said I am.

Speaker 1:

He's like, wow, That was. I mean, it was consistent 25 to 30 mile an hour wind with 40 to 50 mile an hour. Gus, my last three. I lost my hat three times off my head. Shout out to Las Vegas golf insider Brian Hurlbert for the invite. Um played with the channel eight, uh, sports director Chris Mathis Um, and it was a good time, Good time. Uh, the greens at Bally High are spot on. They are really, really good And I'll leave it at that. Hmm, The water is blue. The the the, the, the, the beach, sand is white and Mandalay Bay is a beautiful backdrop.

Speaker 4:

Okay, How was the driving range?

Speaker 1:

Oh my God, about Bally High.

Speaker 4:

Best in town.

Speaker 3:

And if you paid for Bally High, and if you paid for Bally High in the past few months, just go play black desert price?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's, it's the same price and it's worth the gas money. Uh, dude, it's in bad shape. I mean, it's not, it's. I mean it's, it's June in the desert, so you're not going to have, you know, shadow creek conditions at every course in town. Um, but for the amount of money that they're charging, wow, it's, it's. It's rough out there, it's rough out there. Yeah, sorry, the new bar area is what's the?

Speaker 3:

top dollar on Bally High currently, cause I would never pay more than $80 for Bally High current.

Speaker 1:

Oh, i don't know, jeremy go to their website and look it up real quick and see what they're charging. No, i'm saying like what would you pay?

Speaker 3:

for it, Since you played it recently. What's the top dollar amount you'd pay to play it?

Speaker 1:

Are we going by today's dollars or like what goal, Like what golf should be valued at Cause today?

Speaker 3:

well, well, basically on what you pay for other tea times, I mean, like what's it worth currently?

Speaker 1:

It is a with no range, a small putting green that is very bumpy. Take the course.

Speaker 3:

Like I mean the course it's a it's a $50 course. The course itself is $50.

Speaker 1:

It's a $50 course.

Speaker 3:

It's not. It's dry, it's patchy So desert pines is better than Bally High. Would you rather play desert pines?

Speaker 1:

I don't know. I see I'm not a Bally High hater like you. I don't hate, Oh you hate.

Speaker 3:

I think you don't.

Speaker 4:

I think you're allowed to say it, the middle than us.

Speaker 1:

No, no, i like the.

Speaker 3:

I don't mind the back and forth and the similar holes that everybody complains about the middle You probably watch a lot of how to be a murderer or something I know I mean, or something.

Speaker 1:

I think the the, the long par fours that you end that golf course on are are really good. I think the the whole designs are really good. It's just. It's just in a small confined there you go, a spot that they're forced to kind of tinker it up. I think the par threes are really good. There's some drivable holes. There's the last hole I think is is a really good golf hole. It's just, it's just the courses and in great shape right now. If it was prime then yeah, it's totally a $200 golf course $200 get the fuck out of here. Well, yeah, if, if it was in this effing guy I'm going by today's dollars comparing other golf courses, right. So I mean, if it was in, if it was in tip top shape, like prime, lush conditions, like how they want it to be when it was designed in today's market, with it being on the strip, with having those strip views, with the, the new bar and the outside area that they have, i mean they're really trying to do some good things there. It's just, you know you, you have people that are going to pay it no matter what.

Speaker 3:

And yeah, i mean they're just going to play it, pay it. But I mean for us locals, like we get no fucking love there And that's occasionally like they send out those one deal.

Speaker 1:

Occasionally they'll throw a $25 discount.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, they'll give you a July tea time at 2 pm for $80. Like, thank you guys, you guys are great And in my head, like I can go play Las Vegas National for $55. You can go play Paiute. Why the fuck would I spend money at Bali Eye when I can go play National. Or I'd rather 100% go to Paiute and I'd pay 150 at Paiute rather than $100 at Bali High. 100%, I agree I would. I'd rather go play Desert Pines for $80 than spend $100 at Bali High. OK, who designed Bali High? Let's find that out. I want to know who designed Bali High. I'd rather play a Pete Dye than whatever. George George.

Speaker 1:

Costanza fucking PB die first off.

Speaker 3:

So come down there, george Costanza fucking building Bali High golf course in the biggest strip, elvis.

Speaker 4:

Presley actually.

Speaker 3:

Golf course designer.

Speaker 1:

Wow.

Speaker 4:

Let me see, frank.

Speaker 3:

Sinatra's dying wish.

Speaker 4:

Build a golf course on Least Land on the strip.

Speaker 1:

Actually, when they imploded the dunes, they dug up the golf course and moved it to Bali, high Leashmint and Brian Curley in 2000.

Speaker 3:

Leashmint and Brian Curley.

Speaker 1:

Is that the closer for the Cubs? Leashmint Leslie Smith.

Speaker 3:

Golf course designers.

Speaker 1:

All right, let's see Where else have they designed? Watch is going to be.

Speaker 3:

Joe's favorites.

Speaker 1:

It's going to be Goat Hill.

Speaker 3:

They got Dalu Dunes and Ordos Southern.

Speaker 4:

Pines.

Speaker 3:

Actually looks kind of sick.

Speaker 4:

I mean I like that, i like Bali High. I think it's a cool course and some of the holes are really good. So as far as the quality of that when I played, it has been good. Southern Dew. I never played it when it's in crap condition.

Speaker 3:

Look here's. The thing is that really is disappointing is they don't give us locals any kind of love.

Speaker 1:

They don't need to.

Speaker 3:

I know, i understand that, i know that they don't need to.

Speaker 1:

I mean Beds has told me many times that that's his biggest account. Bali High is his biggest Travis Matthews account. They sell so much there.

Speaker 3:

And that's that's the thing. That kind of sucks, though, is because, like these, people are coming from out of town to play Bali High and they're paying $250 for that when there's so much better golf in Las Vegas.

Speaker 1:

Oh, and it was 30 mile an hour wins yesterday Do you imagine that. Oh my God, i don't know. I mean if we would have had 35 40 mile an hour wins at Black Desert, it would have sucked, but I still think the golf course is cool enough that we would have had a good time.

Speaker 3:

Look, it's fine, get your money, i get it, but first locals. There's so many more options for us And, yeah, and Vegas is based on capturing that tourist money, so I get it, i do get it, but I just wish that they showed us some love. That's, that's my main thing.

Speaker 1:

All right, joe and I played Candygate. It's our last local golf outing we'll chat about before we get to the US Open stuff. We Adam was kind enough to invite us out, jeremy couldn't make it, so Bob joined us and we played in the year their Friday skins game. I saw Alex Phillips out there. Hadn't seen her in a long time. She walked up. She's like aren't you a little far from Henderson, so it's good to see her. And we played in the skins game and Adam actually had one of the two skins, so congrats to him for that. Probably the gosh. I don't know if I could say it's the best. I've seen it, because back when I worked there back in 95, it was really really pure, but it was good, it was in great shape. It sucked that the sky opened up and dumped a ton of water on the course, so we had car path only. Yeah, we didn't plan on walking the course that day noon. We're going to St George the next early the next morning, but it's a valuable option right now. As far as a private club goes, it's making some headway and I think it's doing good.

Speaker 3:

Other than the $872 club sandwich I got.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, high noons. Did you know the inflation rate has affected high noons, now $15.

Speaker 3:

No, i don't think it was the high noons, i think it was the sandwich. that was the inflated part. But no, but Canyon Gates looking really good It was. it was fun. I haven't been the biggest fan of Ken gate in the past. I know that I've played it three or four times now and because they don't give discounts to locals. Yeah, No, no, no, no, no. I just look, i'd rather pay $100 at Canyon gate than pay $100 Bali high all day. Oh God, yes, 100%, so absolutely, i was in really good shape golf balls more than 30 yards. Yeah, and I mean, if you're into the practice area like Canyon Gates, chipping Green is pretty shitty, but other than that, like there, though it's there. They. It is an option, that's for sure. The greens were great, fairways were really good. The course got soaked, so it was. It was a little soggy, of course, to be expected, because it got dumped on, but in car path the only doesn't help, but there's some fun ones out there. There really is, like the opening holes, fun, so good. It's a good par five, especially with that that back right pin. That was. That was a fun pin. And the par three with the, you know, with the water in front. I think that's six or something like that. The next hole after that. It's great that par five, but there's a lot of good holes out there. I would 100% play Canyon Gate over Valley High all day, yep.

Speaker 1:

I agree with that. All right, so that'll wrap up our local stuff.

Speaker 3:

But I don't like paying $25 for a chicken club club sandwich. Definitely don't like that. We have two high noons and a club sandwich $48.

Speaker 1:

We were. We were making the turn and Joe goes in to grab a quick sandwich.

Speaker 3:

And she said it's going to take a couple of minutes. It ended up taking 15. So then we go the next hole and these guys are like we're playing the skins game.

Speaker 1:

Everybody's trying to go And we're waiting for Joe.

Speaker 3:

I went, bobby, no gloves, and just hit one into the water.

Speaker 1:

No you topped it, and then you go to your second shot and then you hit it in the water, yeah, and then you're done, yeah.

Speaker 3:

I was like what's up with?

Speaker 1:

Joe, I said so. golfing man, He's eating some food right now He's like oh

Speaker 4:

greasy fingers. He's done for four holes. I'm like you know I'm going to eat some.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to eat some. I'm going to eat some. I'm going to eat some. I'm going to eat some. I'm going to eat some. I'm going to eat some. I'm going to eat some, I'm going to eat some. So I was talking to Joe before we came on that I had a Tonight is staying where my I got a ring in my ear that wouldn't go away, And so I did this with my family because I thought it was funny. But I searched How to get your ears to stop ringing Right And Google how to stop, and you know how it populates Right. So what do you think? the top 10 things. How to stop? how to stop? Don't stop, don't be type. Changing cutters is based on your history Right.

Speaker 3:

How to stop, hey, how to stop tinkering.

Speaker 1:

The GT max. The spider GT max from tailor made has been in the bag for quite a while now, So yeah, So how to?

Speaker 4:

stop like the general public. I'm saying How to Yeah, yes.

Speaker 2:

Yes.

Speaker 3:

I would say like how to stop throwing up, how to stop feeling like?

Speaker 1:

shit, how to get over a hangover. That was like number five, nope.

Speaker 2:

How to stop.

Speaker 3:

Now I'm going based on the population and how. There we go. Yeah, oh shitty, a lot of people. How to stop a car? No, how to stop. How to stop receiving spam texts? Oh, that's a good one, but Damn, that was really good, i thought.

Speaker 1:

So it's not vaping. How to stop smoking. That's what Emma said, or Brooklyn said that, but no, no.

Speaker 3:

How to stop snoring cocaine.

Speaker 1:

Close, close. How to stop snoring, that was number one. How to stop diarrhea? Number two How to stop hiccups.

Speaker 3:

Number three Yeah, that's a big one.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's a good one How to stop coughing And how to stop a bloody nose. I thought that was hilarious.

Speaker 3:

How to stop the golden nights Partying. Yes, that's. there's no stopping it. Let's fucking go.

Speaker 1:

All right, let's, let's, let's get into some US open talk. How?

Speaker 3:

to stop Paul A Zinger from commenting on US Open Lord?

Speaker 1:

I'm I'm so glad. I've been complaining about him for a while now And it's like I felt a little vindicated because it's like everybody finally hopped on the, the hating Zinger bandwagon. Was it the? was it the?

Speaker 2:

not the marine layer.

Speaker 1:

What's it called? It was the marine layer He fucked him up.

Speaker 3:

I did. I didn't watch a shit ton. I watched. I watched pretty much all of Sunday. But you know I've never had a big problem with Zinger, like really. But that one shot that Wyndham Clark hit where it was going to the top of the. He's like, oh, it's going to stay there. It's not going to get any closer ever. And it's, and it's going down. He's like, no, i'm not going to stop there. And it's, it ends up being like five feet, like that was really shitty And I've never had a problem with Zinger, ever. And that was I. It, it irked me. I'm like, and it would have been.

Speaker 1:

it would have been great if he was like boy I get that wrong, he kind of did make fun of yourself.

Speaker 3:

I think he did say that he got it wrong, but he didn't like he should have talked shit about himself Like he would have been saved, like man I'm, i'm an idiot. Yeah, you know, like I was completely wrong and shot out.

Speaker 1:

That's why I don't play golf anymore. It was just something.

Speaker 3:

It was so bad And that's.

Speaker 1:

That was the moment where I was like OK, zing, like you're, you're fucking, you're, you don't know what you're talking about, yeah, so OK, so the biggest things that I've seen is a lot of people complaining about the course, a lot of people complaining about the crowds, a lot of people complaining about the twilight round on Saturday, which was absolutely ridiculous. Chris Torres on Instagram chimed in and said take away from Ricky's final round I I Yeah, class.

Speaker 3:

I feel like he played too conservatively.

Speaker 1:

I, he played, yeah, he played not to lose instead of the win.

Speaker 4:

And maybe he felt comfortable, or maybe it's. you know, it's been a while. I mean he's won tournaments. of course You know players championship In a while, and maybe he was just. the game plan was just let's just hold on to the lead, let's just play it safe.

Speaker 1:

Dude I, i kept on waiting for that, attacking the 17th and August on the right side of the flag, on that far right pin shot. Where was that? I don't.

Speaker 3:

I don't think, i just think he lost. Yeah, he definitely didn't make anything.

Speaker 1:

Well, when I took it, Yeah, he lost his putter.

Speaker 3:

He lost his putter, I mean he he was.

Speaker 1:

I mean he'd birdied half the holes after two rounds, something like that It was just ridiculous.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, but he, he birdied 18 of 36. And then he started on Saturday and he birdied 19 of 37. So it was like I just I think he lost his putter. I don't.

Speaker 1:

I don't think he was something.

Speaker 3:

I don't know if he was trying to play too conservatively or not, but He just he couldn't make anything. He couldn't make anything on the final day. He has some really good putts, but he just can drop anything.

Speaker 1:

Yep, i think same thing with Rory watching him. Yeah, he hits a really good ones too. I was waiting for that. You know Patrick Reed and him battling at the Ryder Cup. You know, come on, you know that just the excitement and one of those big putts was going to drop, and it, just it never happened.

Speaker 3:

He barely missed some of those long ones, like it was right there, it was right there The same thing at the British Open last year.

Speaker 1:

you know he's got that chip on 18 and it's like this is Rory, this is going in, and you know, and it's. it was like all afternoon I was just waiting for him to stick it to two feet and really get the. I mean when I'm always behind you and you got Rory in front of you and a crowd cheer would like, oh yeah spook him, you know that's the tiger, would just you know you'd hear him. Here comes time.

Speaker 4:

I think that course, though, like the way that some of those pins were set up on Sunday, they kind of forced you to not be a risk taker and into some of those greens, because you could not even get it close, you couldn't fire any. a lot of the pins It was. it was insane.

Speaker 2:

We're not getting wedges into greens and they wouldn't hold.

Speaker 4:

So part of it's probably that. I mean, i mean Wyndham Clark, he, he played really well. He was able to hit more greens and Ricky made some putts. But I think some of it it's a combination of things. It's probably confidence, it's probably playing conservative and the course I think. But I think we'll see more Ricky is. He looks so good though The whole week I just I'm excited He's been trending for the past six months weeks.

Speaker 3:

I will say, like, coming into golf, like what five years now ago, like I was obviously love Ricky. Ricky's a great dude, obviously. It seems like, and I won money on him. When he won in waste management, i think What did he win 2018? Something like that. But man, dude, the dude is pure class, like just pure fucking class. Like what it? what a dude man like. Shout out Ricky Fowler.

Speaker 1:

Like 100 percent. What are you doing when he missed that putt Leading the fucking US Open? Yeah, you know that was, but even afterwards, talking with Wyndham afterwards and, and you know, just congratulate him.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, i mean like for him to just go up to him like man your mom would have been proud of you, like I mean Ricky don't need no money, so that I mean that might play a certain role too. Like he's got Corona and Rock Morgan's money Like good on him, but I don't know, like he's just he's class man, like signing autographs for the kids, like staying there till late at night And yeah, shout out Ricky Fowler 100 percent, and it's good to see him trending in the right direction because he's been playing some great golf lately. Like love to see it. But let me ask you guys this question Is the US Open going to return to LACC? Yeah, they already did, they already have a site, but is this before this week or after this week?

Speaker 1:

No, it's, it's out. They, i mean they have through 2040 or like 2032 or something like that.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

But it's coming back.

Speaker 3:

I know it's, i know there's some, i know there's some others in the works, but do they want to do you think the USG wants to return?

Speaker 1:

I think this I always, i always like to Conspiracy theory stuff and you tinker right, right tinker and conspiracies. I, i wonder is to box What life that I wonder what the USGA, what was going on in their heads as they were watching this and getting criticized for the crowd size and and not letting people on there. And I wonder if this was like a test for these high end, super private courses that don't want these events, of a way for them to say, hey look, we want to showcase your course, america wants to see your course. Look what we did in LACC, go talk to their members And. And so I'm curious if that, like that, was what this was to try and get, you know, pine Valley US Open Pine Valley US Open, exactly And and get some of these historic old courses, the you know the crazy Uber private ones and and that you know some people don't even know about.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I didn't even think about that. That's a good point. Like I didn't even think about that.

Speaker 1:

I mean it's. you got a town that has more money than they know what to do with The. you knew the membership was going to buy a lot of the general admission tickets to prevent a lot of people from coming on. That course is not set up for spectators. It was not designed for spectator. I mean, TPC sawgrass was designed for people to be there watching. Yes, Yes. This was not, and I think they'll have to make some changes to because people are going to want. It sucks not having a giant crowd on the final hole. I mean they did as best as they could and let people crowd up and run up on the fairway to try and give it that atmosphere, but there was no.

Speaker 3:

There was no US Open vibe that it did Yeah, that's the thing for me is like it felt a little lackluster because it Yeah, but chamber was the same way. Chamber was the same way though.

Speaker 1:

And it's because it's it's it's remote, it's hard to get to some of the areas that you can spectate at, and I'll just sit around and watch these three. They're kind of like us as trainers, you know. I like hanging out on the hill because I don't want to walk all the way out to five and 60 bucks.

Speaker 3:

I get that, but these, these were the widest fairways in US Open history, correct, correct, like let's, can we shrink them a little bit? Like we're preparing for US Open, like they should have shrunk them a bit. I think they did on some of them, yeah, which I think they should have done a little bit. I don't think that I don't think that when them cars, when I'm trying Oh, his tee shot was ridiculous.

Speaker 1:

On 18.

Speaker 3:

He fucking went like that was it? That was a hitting greens cut slice And he should have missed that fairway For sure. If it was a you, if it was a real US Open, in my opinion he probably shouldn't miss that fairway.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but I think what this course, the way it's designed it's, it's designed to get the ball in play, have it in play And now I'm going to protection. Now I'm going to now I'm going to screw with your brain and give you some ridiculous visuals on some crazy pins, on some undulated greens, and I'm really going to fuck with your mind. Take the pressure off the tee box. Hey, you're in the fairway. Ok, now look what I got for you. Yeah, i just I think it's a. You need to show some respect and and honor how good these guys are right now, how good golfers professional golfers are that the rating on that course was seventy six point nine, i mean a scratch ball for basically. It's, it's, but it's a par seventy.

Speaker 3:

But they should play the US Open at Coyote Springs. That's all I'm trying to say.

Speaker 1:

Oh yes, absolutely For going to remote places. Well, I talk about remote as far as getting out to the holes. You know it's, it's not an easy.

Speaker 3:

No, i don't, I don't know. I to me like I enjoyed it, like I loved the course, i loved watching it. Obviously it's a major Shout out Wyndham Clark, 100 percent like he deserved it. He had the he Shuffler chasing him. Rory was right there, ricky Fowler, i mean, there were, there were some good people right there.

Speaker 1:

The, the shots, they didn't. Yeah, yeah, one hundred and down game was ridiculous.

Speaker 3:

The scores weren't as tight as I would like to see. But you know, i just don't know if LACC Held on to the identity of the US Open. That's the thing for me. Like I don't know if it has. It was a great course, like Gilhans shot out, did a great job, like those bunkers, like in some of those like that, that fescue around the bunkers and the fingers and all that shit. I just don't know if it had the identity of the US Open. That's what it was for me.

Speaker 1:

Well, and this is also another conspiracy deep seated thing for me is Is this a way for the USGA to justify rolling the ball back? You know, these guys on five hundred and sixty yard par fours are hitting eight irons into the green. Yeah, you know it's, hey, let's, let's. We can get a couple things out of this. We can Aluminati, bro. Yeah right, deep seated shit going on That was Adams. Adams comment was why is the 18th hole fairway of the LACC 58 yards wide? That's not US Open style golf. Yeah, i agree, ok.

Speaker 3:

So it was hard to get it close to that hole. Those guys didn't get it close to that hole. No, they did not.

Speaker 1:

So Cyrus chimed in with a couple. What will it take for Roy to break through? I don't think Roy needs to break through. I think Roy is broken through.

Speaker 3:

I think Roy just had to hit a couple of points, yeah. Like he just had to have the ball fall like he needed some ball luck. That's all he needed.

Speaker 1:

Yep, he was right there. I think he's playing fine. I don't think it's a. it would be a breakthrough when he went. Do you think there's another win?

Speaker 3:

Do you think the weight of like the merger, like helped Rory like play well? Because this is a thought Katie said She's like do you think Roy is playing better because there's no weight on his shoulders now, because it's like it's merged or one whatever? Blah, blah, blah. Out of my hands, yeah, like you know, probably, i'm sure he got paid off like or some shit, And that's that's what Katie said She's like. Do you think he's playing well? because he's not the poster child anymore.

Speaker 4:

I can see, definitely see that angle, but I think he's been playing well for a long time.

Speaker 3:

Well, well, yeah, he has, But I think what?

Speaker 1:

he just isn't birding in the last round. The past month He hasn't played great.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, he did take a break, that's for sure Like he sat out for the Harbor town.

Speaker 3:

He didn't like Missa cut and like the tournament before he played well before.

Speaker 1:

So, masters, so he finished. he finished second at the US Open. He finished T nine at the Canadian, t seven at the Memorial, t seven at the PGA championship. So I mean not not really bad golf, but yeah, t forty seven at Wells Fargo Miss the cut at the Masters.

Speaker 3:

The Masters. That's what it's based on, i'm sure Yeah.

Speaker 1:

I think he's got a good cut at the players, second at Arnold Palmer, and he's got wins in Dubai.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, the CJ Cup, but do you think he feels really, he definitely feels relief. Oh, absolutely.

Speaker 1:

Yes, I'm sure. I think it's just his butter.

Speaker 3:

All right Next one from butter, i just think. I just think the ball just didn't drop, like he had really good putts and it just didn't drop.

Speaker 1:

He's gone to the blade. He's gone back to the mallet, to the blade, back to the mallet. DJ did the same thing. You know that these guys, it's crazy. Look at Scottie Scheffler. I mean, scottie Scheffler would have five more titles this year if he could putt the last month.

Speaker 3:

Totally Do. the dudes right there all the fucking time.

Speaker 1:

Dominating like Tiger Woods, dominating from approach to the green.

Speaker 3:

T green, yeah, but is last and putting it Like two or three putts drop around extra, like he'd be on a 10 rule in streak.

Speaker 1:

It would be ridiculous how good he's right there all the fucking time.

Speaker 2:

And don't forget.

Speaker 3:

I call.

Speaker 1:

I was picking him all the time before he started About the merger right The merger.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, i was picking Scottie Scheffler all the time before he Yeah you were. I called it Hello Menmouly's next, obviously because I've been picking menmouly. Shout out menmouly, he's coming for y'all.

Speaker 1:

All right, so I'm going to go to Cyrus. another one was LACC, a good venue. should us return there again? I think we covered that. And then what course? was course set up too easy? Did the USGA go back to being the one turning, where even power wins?

Speaker 3:

I think they got. I think they got dealt an unexpected card of marine layer and wet conditions.

Speaker 1:

And really Thursday easy.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, i think I do think Thursday was too easy and that I think that might have been the kicker where it's like this is not the US Open kind of feel I mean how deflating do you think it is if you're a guy that goes out there and in those soft conditions you shoot even and you're like fuck, yeah, yeah, yeah, even for a US Open. I'm killing it.

Speaker 1:

And then Ricky and Xander 62.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, 62 is you're like holy.

Speaker 1:

I mean that's got a way on you the next time you tee it up because you're like holy shit, there's a 62 out here. What?

Speaker 3:

Totally.

Speaker 1:

And then you go out and you miss the cut.

Speaker 3:

You know yeah, yeah And I will. I will throw that to the USGA like they weren't dealt the best cards in Barometric pressure and weather, if you will. We all learned what a marine layer is. Yeah, this might be a question for McGonteric, so maybe we should have him on to decipher this. But I don't, i don't think they, i don't think they got what they wanted out of the weather at LACC, because you know, in June typically in LA it's fucking hot and crispy and no clouds, and you baked like that.

Speaker 1:

They're probably we haven't hit 100 yet. You know exactly. So it would have been a great time to have the US Open at Shadow Creek.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, i think, i think the weather, i think the weather.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I think if they have wind, it would have been a completely different story.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

OK, so this week on the PGA tour we have the travelers. This is the final designated event. There is still a big points and money event, with the final major of the year next month, but this is the final designated event of the PGA season And then the final winner of the season. Zander Shoffley is the defending champion And, Joe, you got the odds ready there, sir, Pulling them up right now.

Speaker 3:

This is the one where Seheeth fucked up his shot right.

Speaker 1:

On the. He was there, yeah, and this is where Co-Krak hit one into the parking lot and didn't sign a score card and left. The PGA tour Went to lift.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I love watching all the pros Instagrams before the tournament start, because then you get to see the stuff you don't see on TV. Holy hell, this course looks amazing. Every year, though, TPC River Highlands is just Stunning And a good field too, Like you think it's. I mean, it's designated, of course, but before he is kind of you get a few of the big players, but now I love seeing all the top players there.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's, it's, it's stacked, Yeah, everybody's here for it.

Speaker 3:

All right, your favorite, scotty Schaeffler, hopefully some putts can drop. Six and a half to one. John Rom 10 to one, along with Roy McElroy, xander. Patrick Cantley 12 to one, victor Havilland. Collin Morcala 18 to one. Russell Henley 20 to one. Tommy Fleetwood been playing some really good golf shot out of Leeds. Well the final round. first and final round, It's the middle that he's got, even the week before, 25 to one, tony Fina, 28 to one, tom Kim 30 to one fits and Min Woo Lee 35 to one, along with Ricky Fowler, max Homa, wyndham Clark, 40 to one, justin Thomas Sung, jae Cameron Young, jason Day Deckey 45 to one, gary Woodland, brian Harmon Harris, english Siwoo Kim Sahitha Gala 50 to one. It's called the way down the bottom At the bottom, 350 to one. You got Sam Ryder, pat and Gisire, danny Willett and Francesco Calamari.

Speaker 1:

Calamari in the water. Damn Oh, jenner Wilson. Why does she want to know why she didn't get invited? I don't know who you are. Hmm, maybe that's a guy.

Speaker 4:

That's the.

Speaker 3:

Jenner, that's the homie up in Salt Lake. What are you trying to say?

Speaker 4:

Yeah, I think that's Jenner.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, is that Jenner? OK Yeah.

Speaker 4:

I'm sorry, he's the one I get invited.

Speaker 1:

So there's probably talking about Black Rock or Black Desert.

Speaker 3:

Oh, he's the one that spotted my old match shirt at TPC Summer.

Speaker 1:

Oh, ok, all right, all right.

Speaker 3:

My bad. Yeah, sorry, yeah The fuck.

Speaker 1:

All right, so last week.

Speaker 3:

Just lost the fan.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, our one subscriber on YouTube Is just the bell just went off. We lost somebody. So I screwed up last week and took Kepka and later on text the boys and like, hey, i fucked up because he's not on the PGA tour yet And so I took a homo for my pick and he missed a cut.

Speaker 3:

Jeremy Hedgerton predicts Wyndham Clark at 10 under.

Speaker 4:

I didn't see that.

Speaker 3:

Do you see that video Where him and JT were at the bar and they were drinking rosé and Oh yeah, yeah, i filmed it live. See that or no?

Speaker 4:

I thought that was today. It was recorded.

Speaker 3:

No, no, it was No, they were, they were. They were at the bar during the final round And JT was filming him and he was like, hey, what's the final score? Who's the winner? He's like Wyndham Clark 10 under because they they posted like we're we're debating going live, because they were still in LA, because they're waiting to go to travelers. So it was interesting. Max Homa called it.

Speaker 1:

Jeremy had Jordan Spieth. He missed the cut. So Joe won the week with Victor Hovlin. Jeremy and I each got Trey's pick of Tyrell Hatton. He finished 27th. So Joe made up a little bit of ground, jeremy, so way ahead. We got to see one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, nine events left before the playoff start. So, joe, you get. You get first picks this week, sir.

Speaker 3:

Yes, finally, back in the ring, let's go, i'm going to go. Bonus points 35 to one, mr Australian And Mole, it's man. Men Woo Australian, let's go, he's going to win one soon. There's a few of those Actually he's from.

Speaker 1:

Australia right Or New Zealand New.

Speaker 3:

Zealand, something like that.

Speaker 1:

What was it 35?

Speaker 3:

to one down under. Yeah, he's going to win one. Yeah, playing great man Shot him. Yeah, that's who.

Speaker 1:

I, that's who I took for the one and done this week.

Speaker 3:

Like if there was a like. he's my Visually spirit animal, not necessarily like, but like.

Speaker 4:

He's your soul, golfer.

Speaker 3:

He's a counterpart.

Speaker 1:

You got to come out with a little little.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yeah, if it was skinny and down under like.

Speaker 1:

And Aussie and Asian.

Speaker 3:

And those Aussie and look Asian. Why are more like mirrored glasses sometimes like.

Speaker 1:

Drove a sob.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yeah, like a Subaru. Jeremy, I'm going to get W R X.

Speaker 4:

The second pick because you're ahead in the points I'm.

Speaker 3:

It might be. It should it be spirit animal week. Who's your spirit animal?

Speaker 1:

It's spirit And it's spirit animal week.

Speaker 2:

We're in the spirit, change the day.

Speaker 3:

Like pigs.

Speaker 4:

I wasn't prepared for this. I'm going to go. I'm going to go back to back Xander Shafley, Oh you can see it happening.

Speaker 3:

Twelve to one, i don't know, two, one. I'm going down, down, down the board.

Speaker 1:

Taking somebody I don't think I have ever taken before Down under And Adams got in. No, i've taken it before. I've taken it before. I've taken it before. I've taken it before, i've taken it before. I am going with Harris English, harris English.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, he got it, he did.

Speaker 1:

What's his odds?

Speaker 3:

Not as deep as you think.

Speaker 1:

They're like no no, wow, that's actually 50. Okay, hey, that's good bonus points.

Speaker 3:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

So in the one and done, we haven't been able to close the gap. We're still $280,000 down. It's better than three million, it's not bad. No, yeah, i had the same pick as Dan. We both had Kepka, So that was a wash. And then Jeremy had speed that didn't make the cut, and then Dan.

Speaker 3:

Who'd Cal?

Speaker 1:

had, cal had. I don't remember who Cal had, but they finished down low.

Speaker 3:

So So we made something up.

Speaker 1:

We made like $42,000. Okay, yeah, i mean, hey, 280 grand down. We were a lot more than that before.

Speaker 3:

So we're running out of time, but birdies and bourbon going down at some point soon.

Speaker 1:

Okay, That kind of does it for everything. I got one more thing that I want to talk about on a personal thing. You guys saw today I changed the breakfast.

Speaker 3:

No idea what's happening with this.

Speaker 1:

Oh, shut the fuck up, just shut up, and listen, i, i have been neglecting the breakfast ball website and what that was to me For a while. The Vegas golf network has kind of taken the forefront in my golfing life because it's very active, there's a lot going on, there's a lot going on behind the scenes to get all these tournaments up and running And it is consuming a lot of my time And because of that, i, i, i, i, i, i, i, i, i, i, i, i, i, i, i, i have been neglecting doing what I wanted to do with the breakfast ball. I've been neglecting some companies with doing reviews and I am not happy with myself about that And I'm and I'm going to try and alleviate that situation and and get some more content going on on the blog And have it be what I want it to be. What I didn't want it to be is what I want it to be is what the breakfast ball Instagram account has turned into, which is me golfing And I you know everybody wants to have views and follows and all that stuff. It's. You know you can't, you can't not get excited when you have a video that blows up and you get a ton of views. It's exhilarating, it's cool And you want that more. It's, you know, it's like a, it's like a drug, but I have haven't had any growth on that page for a while and it's and I've kind of wondering why And I think it kind of hit me a couple of weeks ago It's because I'm I'm not putting out the content on there to what I should be. It's a lot of me golfing, a lot of golf course pictures, a lot of, you know, just stuff about my personal golf life And that's not what the breakfast ball is. The breakfast ball is it's a review site. It's a. It's a gear site. It's a. You know, showing new items, touting brands. You know, making people aware of companies that they may not be known, no, are out there. You know, like F and three P is a. You know a brand that I think of that not a lot of people may know who they are. That's a really good company And that's what I need to be doing with the breakfast ball not showing my swing struggles and practice sessions and all that stuff. So I I've been, yeah, i I've been contemplating actually just squashing the whole thing, just saying goodbye to the breakfast ball and let it right off into the sunset, and I think it would alleviate a lot of the stress that I allow golf to add to my life. But I, i don't, i don't want to. I, i, i love what that website is. I love how it's connected me with so many people and all my friends that I have now in one way or another. It's because of the, the Instagram, the breakfast ball account, and so I didn't want it to go away. But I wanted to have a spot to where I could just have fun with my golf stuff on a personal level. So I started my so-called golf life, changed the name from the breakfast ball custom shop And now that page is my so-called golf life, a little throwback to my so-called life TV show. That was one of my favorites back in the day, and that's where. That's where I'm going to post all the personal stuff. That's where I'm going to post, you know, when we go play courses that we're not reviewing or doing any publicity for. You know shit going on at the putting in the backyard and stuff like that, and I'm going to keep the breakfast ball for what it is intended for, and so that's what. If you saw that today and you got unfollowed from the breakfast ball, it's mainly because you're a personal account that I follow because we're friends And I'm going to be doing that from the other one and strictly try to keep a business side of things as far as the build shop, new gear, reviews, product testing and stuff like that. So that's what that is about. Eric's, like I thought you dumped me, i said, no, you're my, you're my favorite A-A-Rick. I'd never do that. So that's what that is. So if you want, if you like the personal stuff that you see that I post, follow me over there, and if you don't, don't, if you want to see more of the review type stuff and press releases and product testing and all that shit that I really like doing, stay with the breakfast ball, because that's where it's going to be. That's what that's about. I was wondering what page changed. It was the Custom Shop. I mean, the Custom Shop one was just it was just any ferals And yeah, and marker, ball markers and you know, and Spiny ferals. what an asshole.

Speaker 3:

Hey, it gives you speed bro. Hey, speed slot slot technology aerodynamics.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so if if an A? I posted something on that Custom Shop page like four months ago. do not follow this page. I'm not posting any more content here. Please don't follow it. And I've gained like 50 followers since I posted that.

Speaker 3:

It's like People trying to get the secret.

Speaker 4:

Like Illuminati, yeah, yeah, so Well I think that's what I'm going to do, yeah.

Speaker 1:

So if you, if you're on the brakes ball and you don't see stuff that you're used to seeing, it's because it's on my so-called golf life.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, well, i have. I have two things to say. I am dropping off some hats to the person that did this hat. I'm going to have a very limited run Travis Matthews, hidden greens Dice Man Chippy character soon. That's one thing, and then the other thing was shit. What was it You're?

Speaker 4:

gonna have more shirts.

Speaker 3:

No, i have a couple shirts left. I do have a couple shirts left, that's not it. No, oh, that's. I remember what it was Shout out to everybody that did the band and solstice today, because the band and solstice happened today, Oh you shot everyone. It was awesome watching Tony Schuster post post video today. Great gift bag And I was crying inside a little bit today, but I'm watching weather ideal.

Speaker 4:

The weather is.

Speaker 3:

it always is Weather looked incredible People showing up in shorts and 46 degree weather. It's OK. It's OK because we're going to be there next August. Jeremy got the pass, the hall pass Eight of us going up to band in that cargo van. Right, it's going to be amazing, dude. I can, i cannot wait Eight of us, the homies, going to band in August 2024. It's going to be probably the best golf trip that we've ever had. I mean, I can't wait to see your faces Like it's. It's spectacular, it's incredible. But, yeah, shout out to everybody that did the band and solstice today. I know what it feels like, and the pro tips are that we didn't know, you didn't even know. This, matt, is bring gold bond, gold bond on your feet. Yes, obviously.

Speaker 1:

I use the body, slide The body. Yeah, but yeah.

Speaker 3:

But gold bond in the in the shoes, in the shoes was amazing. I've been reading a lot of band and list.

Speaker 4:

Lately like must haves anti chafe cream wool socks. Yes, that's maybe running shoes that are having a you know traction on the bottom are a good option.

Speaker 1:

Mm, hmm, the Adidas sneakers that have the.

Speaker 4:

I've been I've actually been paying attention to the videos and just to see what people are wearing like shoes, wise and bags, and I'm getting a lot of info.

Speaker 3:

Well, i saw a video they posted today. I was like band and solstice pro tips and nobody mentioned gold bond which shot out. I think what were their names? Pat, yeah, patrick, and yeah, they brought the gold one and I was like holy shit, i didn't even think about that. Yeah, we were sitting at old Mac, and I've never seen anybody mention it like gold bond is a mega pro tip, like obviously everybody knows socks, shoes, but gold, bring the fucking gold bond, but shot out everybody that did it and did more than 72 today.

Speaker 1:

Jeremy, you can just box up your clubs in a cardboard box, ship them to band and then just buy the bag shoes to close everything while you're there.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

That way you don't have to compensate, you just get the stuff from band and you know great, That's a great idea. Come out looking like it's going to be incredible. I cannot wait.

Speaker 3:

Can't wait to share it with you guys.

Speaker 4:

It's coming Like we're almost a year out.

Speaker 3:

It is. We're almost a year away.

Speaker 1:

Almost a year out. Yeah, Hey, sad. Another sad note It's because it is the solstice. That means today was the longest day the sun will be up. So every day is shorter now for the rest of the year. The sun was still in the sky at eight o'clock tonight.

Speaker 3:

I think technically tomorrow was the solstice. Yeah, i always thought it was the 21st, i think they did a year early.

Speaker 1:

I always thought it was the Tuesday.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, but they always do it on Tuesday at the solstice. I think tomorrow is the longest day, but still we're we're running out of daylight, so keep chasing daylight. You know what I'm saying?

Speaker 1:

In the afternoon rounds. they're awesome, Yeah, awesome. All right, Joe, bring us home. Let's get the flock out of here.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, thanks for tuning in. This was a good one I had. I enjoyed myself tonight guys.

Speaker 1:

Oh wow, i'm glad you haven't the other 224 episodes, yeah.

Speaker 3:

I mean, most of them are kind of lackluster, but like the US Open this past week. But hey, thanks for tuning in this week.

Speaker 2:

Shout out Gil Hans.

Speaker 3:

Shout out Gil, hans, shout out the LACC membership. You guys are great. Hopefully next year's US Open will be more difficult.

Speaker 1:

When are we going to hear from Tiger? OK, sorry, joe, go ahead.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, i don't PNC. We'll hear from Tiger and PNC in December. So yeah, thanks for tuning in. Next major is the open. I can't wait for that one. That one's going to be fun. But yeah, we got a dozen event this week. We're going to probably play some of us, i think, might be playing Prim this Sunday. We got a VGN tournament coming up out there. Hopefully the greens are great. But yeah, thanks for tuning in, man, we'll see you guys next week. We appreciate you listening and tell your friends, tell your family, tell your kids, tell your unborn children. We'll see you then Later. Peace.

Speaker 4:

Later Bye.
