Speaker 1:

What is up everybody? Thank you so much for tuning into this episode of the Chasing Daylight podcast. We've got a great show for you tonight. Thank you to everybody that's tuning in on YouTube. You really do appreciate it. You're going to enjoy this one a lot. Roars is back on the show and we've got some, some great stuff to talk about, so we're going to just hop right into it. Roars brother, welcome back. How you doing.

Speaker 2:

I'm great Thanks for having me.

Speaker 1:

No problem. So you've had kind of a little bit of change of lifestyle since the last time you were on the show. You are no longer in Georgia, you're no longer in North Florida, you're no longer in West Florida. Now you're down in Miami. And why didn't you let everybody know exactly what's going on? Well, you're not in Miami right now We'll get to that in a minute but let everybody know what's going on in Miami and what you're up to.

Speaker 2:

Well it's. I would say it might be the best kept secret in the golf world. I recently took a position as the director of club fitting and customization at Shell Bay, which nobody's really ever heard of. They seem kind of hard to Google, but now stuff's starting to pop up on it. It's just a phenomenal golf club. You know it's, it's luxury, it's elite, it's the true tour experience. I mean, they're doing stuff that's nicer than what happens on tour and I've worked on tour so I could say that it's, it's unreal, it's. It's all I call my dad. Sometimes I'm like it's, this just isn't real life.

Speaker 1:

So tell everybody about the club and what. What is making this, you know, a very unique facility.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so it. There was an existing golf course there. It was called the diplomat. A lot of folks have heard of that there in Howlandale Beach. It was purchased and they tore out the 6400 yard course that was there before. Greg Norman designed a phenomenal 7200 yard course, also put in a part three course and then tour caliber practice facilities. You know you get to hit whatever balls you want to hit on the range. You know titleist Callaway Taylor made tricks on Bridgestone. You know premium balls, the greens on the driving range, or USDA greens. So you're hitting the ball to a pin and it's bouncing and spinning like it does out in the course. And then we've got what we call the base, which is my facility, essentially full restaurant, bar or kitchen and bar. And then we got covered bays, kind of like, you know, top golf or something like that, if you want to watch the game and hit some balls in the shade. And then we've got a my fitting bay. We've got a teaching bay, 750 square foot indoor putting facility. And then what might excite me as much as everything else is I got a build shop in there too. So I've always loved my jobs as a fitter. I've loved my jobs as a club builder, but now I get to do both and you know so I'm fired up about that. Nice, yeah, it's, it's cool stuff.

Speaker 3:

So the new courses, they, they ripped it up and Norman just gutted it and redid the course, or like, how drastic is it from the old one?

Speaker 2:

It's. There's some of the same directions on holes, but I mean, it's completely different. You know, when I was trying to find a place to stay, I was trying to find somewhere nearby and some of them had, you know, a balcony or something and overlooked the course. And I was looking at it actually just the other night, I was kind of looking out of curiosity and it's like there's not a lake there anymore, there's not a pond right there. That's where my building is, you know. So it's, it's. It's obviously way different.

Speaker 3:

So the shark just came in and just bit that shit up and just rebuilt it. Yeah Scratch, yeah Cool.

Speaker 4:

Yep, so is it done? Is it still some of under construction? I know there's a lot of like residential stuff around it too, right?

Speaker 2:

Yep, yep. So you know there's, there's condos and a few high rises nearby and then we're, we're also building a big condo building, you know, on property. I think that's year two, year three before that'll be up and up and done. Yeah, I mean, the existing clubhouse is awesome and you know they're going to get it, you know, first year. That's it. That's. The other cool thing about my facility is that it'll be the only food and beverage on property the first year. So I'll have a captive audience to kind of nudge towards my fit and bay or hey, let's put a new shaft or try a new grip or something. So that's going to be a lot of fun too.

Speaker 3:

Get a dog and get a new shaft. Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Hey, while you're waiting for your cordon bleu, can you come over here and let's get you fit? Yeah.

Speaker 3:

Would you like great Poupon sir.

Speaker 2:

With an extra wrap.

Speaker 1:

So you've been. You've been teasing me with some photos of the, of the course, of the practice area of your facility. Wow, I mean it is, it's impressive, it's impressive. And so this it's it's going to be a private club and it's it's kind of for the elite, right, this isn't, this isn't a. You know, if you got some money, go ahead and come join. There's there's kind of a high profile clientele here, right.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I mean it's, it's a list of A list, invitation only. You know, I mean it's you've got some tour guys, you've got some Hollywood people, you've got some other professional athletes and then just kind of the who's who of every industry you can think of, whether it's real estate, you know, financial it's, yeah, it's, it's exclusive.

Speaker 3:

Wow, I think I think the main question that I know Dan it's pondering in Dan's head and probably my head too, Is there a golf trip potential where we can get on out there?

Speaker 2:

Um, we'd have, we'd have to figure something out, you know, uh, some, but it's doable. Correct Some of the, some of the people potentially some of the people they've told no to you. You probably wouldn't even ask if I told you who they've told no to, so but yeah, we'll, we'll figure something out. I'll sign you all up as vendors and come out to bend me, yeah.

Speaker 3:

I'm just I'm just wondering, I'm just curious if it's doable. If there's a potential for a doable situation, it's doable. Okay, that's that's all we need.

Speaker 1:

It may have to be at midnight.

Speaker 3:

I'm down to plan Do they have lights, then I'm down.

Speaker 2:

Wait for a full moon.

Speaker 1:

So your job, which you're doing as the director of fitting and customization, um, it's kind of it's kind of crazy because when, when you were approached for this, um, you weren't really sure if it was real. Like I remember the couple of conversations we had, you're like there's no way that they're they're trying to do this, um, but they are doing it and it's it's kind of crazy. So, so kind of explain to everybody what is actually going on, that you're doing. That's so unique for this, you know, really elite class of of, uh, members.

Speaker 2:

Well, and it's one of the things that really attracted me to the opportunity the most is that I hadn't heard of this being done anywhere else. Um, the business model is kind of is well and kind of it really is given golf enthusiasts the full tour experience and I know you know just from explaining the course and the part three and the practice facilities and all that is is definitely tour level. But they, you know we take it all, take it a step further that you've got your coach, you've got your teacher, you've got your fitter, you've got your builder, uh, your trainer. You know physical trainer, physical therapist, sports psychologist. You know you've got a team at Shelby that's going to work with you to achieve your golf goals and you know so these are members, have the means of. You know they're getting ready for member guests or going to somebody else's member guests, that they can fly down and and work with their team. Um, and you know there's clubs that have fitters and have builders and have, you know, somebody in the gym doing classes and stuff like that, but they're not really a team. You know where we're sharing notes, we're collaborating. Um, you know someone comes into my Bay and I could, I could fix it with the club. But you know, it might be better for them to go work with Michael or work with David and, uh, tighten up that swing, get repeated a little better, and then then come back and see me, you know. And. And then two, when I'm you know, when I'm fitting, I can look at the notes and see what he's working on, what so and so is working on with David, and and see, okay, um, I probably shouldn't fit him into this because in the next couple of weeks he's not going to be that steep or he's not going to be that out to end, you know, so it's uh, it's like, it's like a cheers kind of thing, like everybody knows your name, everybody knows what's going on with you.

Speaker 3:

Like you have a. You probably have like a CRM, like a, a customer resource management, like software where you can, you can dive into and understand where he's been in the property and understand what's going on with him.

Speaker 2:

That's that's cool.

Speaker 3:

I mean that's what, like the company I work for, we kind of do that we take notes on clients and and we can see where they've been, where they're going in the future and understand what their hot points are. I mean, that's that's kind of revolutionary to if there's a network for that, to where you can like dive that deep to see where they I mean even where they played in the past six months like that could be like a future of golf. Like did they play in Valhalla and they shot a 90? Like how does that course ranking compete to where they're playing next week? Or there's so much data that you can just farm from that situation and with with that many points of contact, that's that's pretty remarkable.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, one of the things that I was impressed with was Roars was provided with a list of specs for the members and so he can order and build an exact replica set of what they have in New York and or what they have in California. So when they come to Shelby and grab their bags, they're playing the exact same setup that they have at the right place.

Speaker 3:

They don't have to bring their clubs Right. Yeah, definitely not Elite.

Speaker 2:

And that's one of the cool things, you know, you can ship your clubs down, you can. I can order you a set, or you can use a set of premium and I mean premium demos, a rental set, you know and get a fitting on the first day. So it's, Everything's dialed in.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, yeah. So the clubs not, they're not tied to like one brand. Like like most clubs, they kind of have their title list account or their Callaway account. This one, you've got full range of anything, absolutely.

Speaker 2:

Yep, and then and then, wow, you know, several of the manufacturers have taught reached out to me about getting on a staff position and and like I mean, I refuse. You know I don't want to be come across as bias to our members and and I'm not, you know, I mean. My ultimate goal, as anybody at Shell Bay's goal, is that you play the best golf you can, and it might be 14 different brands in your bag, you know.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, so crazy that hasn't been done before. I mean, yeah, maybe at a smaller level, but I mean having everything in in one place where an amateur can go and feel like a tour pro and get all the you know, the attention that those guys get. That's, I mean, that's kind of a game changer for someone. That's, you know, not out there playing for money like the tour players are right you get that kind of experience yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you know the, the places like PGA Superstore and Golf Galaxy, they tout tour level experience. But this is next level. I mean this is just absolutely. I mean the the greens on the practice range are real greens. That's what you were saying earlier. That's, that's insane. You know, we all know here you hit into a practice green at any of the ranges here. It's either dirt, ashwit turf or has been out there so long in the sun that when you hit it the thing falls apart.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, they have a moda in three weeks.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, or there's a monster truck on it yeah.

Speaker 3:

And then there's a situation where you can pick your own ball that you play. You can hit that on the range. That's I mean that's that'd be incredible if that was done anywhere. And I don't know if many, I don't even know if anywhere that does that.

Speaker 1:

So yeah, that's pretty, pretty amazing.

Speaker 4:

I know one course in Utah that when you went there you can choose the balls you want to hit on the range, but it was like three. It's like Callaway title list and it's Strix on range ball.

Speaker 1:

Callaway range ball. What ball are you playing in?

Speaker 3:

real life. Are you guys going to have any super softs out there or no, I think, because there's probably people that need to play super softs.

Speaker 2:

Oh, yeah, yeah. I don't think, I don't think we've got super softs or pinnacles, you know, in the, in the range bags, but I got every. I got every ball you need for a ball fitting.

Speaker 1:

So but you know, if someone comes in and says I need some pinnacles, somebody's running to the store.

Speaker 3:

There you go. There's a Walmart down the street probably. Drone delivery. Is there going to be drone?

Speaker 4:

deliveries for food, or they just have like a like a cart, like a food delivery person on a cart.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's probably tunnels. It'll be. They actually are tunnels In the middle of the fairway. Little manhole. Yeah, here's your burger, sir. Well, I mean they, we've got a they call it a comfort station and I was expecting, like you know, two bathrooms in a ice machine and water fountain. And the first time I rode to the north side of the course and I was like the freaking restaurant out here. You know we're going to have a backlog on the par three, number three. You know folks that go sit down and have a cold cocktail.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, order a burger. How many? How many comfort stations are there?

Speaker 2:

I think three, but only one that's. We got the one at the at the bays. You know they're on the driving range, but then there's one by three and eight. It's kind of right beside those two t boxes. That's. That's Mac daddy.

Speaker 3:

You know, I've seen videos of the summit conversations and it's like I could spend an hour in there. Yeah, they're insane Like a snack, but you got to, you got to have those places for when the the the weather comes through. Yeah, those rain, that's true, florida, florida, you're going to get that. Yeah, you're going to get that in Florida, for sure.

Speaker 2:

Yep, you can almost set your watch by it.

Speaker 3:

Just don't play it. Two o'clock, yeah, it's coming between two and four for sure, no doubt yeah.

Speaker 1:

So what? What else is, what else is going on there that you can tell us about that? Will you know, maybe some price of people or you know anything? What you got.

Speaker 2:

Goodness kind of put me on the spot. I don't know. I'm just most excited about every day being demo day, you know, and all the reps all the reps come through and they're like we had set up a demo day and it's like why you're giving me everything you have In no tea times caddy program. We were able to procure some of the most reputable caddies from some of the most reputable clubs around the world and then you know this just no need for tea times, there's not going to be. You know long lines and at the first tee, or it's just like if you, if you, if I had thought up my dream club. I mean everything. Everything's a notch above that and I feel like even even for our members are going to have the wild factor. You know it's unreal. You know I don't know where I go from here. You know I guess it's going to have to be retirement.

Speaker 1:

Retire yeah.

Speaker 4:

You're going to be like the Willy Wonka of golf, golf, fitting Bay and club building. Yeah, welcome to my, welcome to the chocolate factory, that's right.

Speaker 1:

Welcome to the factory.

Speaker 2:

Let me see your tickets.

Speaker 1:

That's incredible, man. I mean anything after this guy is going to be a lead down, yeah, so, oh, yeah, make sure you hang on to this one for a while at least until we get there.

Speaker 2:

That's right. Sounds like I'm going to have to stay at least six, seven, eight, ten more years because Drake wants to come. He wants to catty in the summers and and work with me, and he's even said he might go to university Miami so he can live with me and work at Shelby. So Pretty cool, that would be awesome. Keep the. I always thought you were talking about. Drake the rapper.

Speaker 4:

Oh no, drake is going to come down the men. The college thing was like that kind of threw me off a little bit that makes sense to school.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, canadian.

Speaker 4:

No, my name is a Cal it out there. Dj Calot territory down there yeah. Oh, oh, oh.

Speaker 1:

Can, you can win. When you see him, can you just say hey, when you're golfing you can give a shot.

Speaker 3:

Chasing daylight podcast.

Speaker 1:

Let's go golfing because you're already golfing Right. Let's go golfing when you're golfing.

Speaker 4:

So when is the opening day. When is it officially your first day?

Speaker 2:

So we're doing a founders event October 1st. So we've got Our 12 founders that took the risk of Of this taking off. There's no more risk now. I mean it's clear that this is a Mecca in the golf industry happening, yeah, and then October 2nd when it opens, opens, so it's coming up, coming up quick. You know, I'm in Michigan for a week and go into Chicago for a few days and I almost canceled this trip because I Want to make sure everything's ready to rock and roll. But you know, our team is there around the clock and I mean, the other day we had 172 contractors on the property and that didn't really, that didn't count the golf course really. So it's wild, it's dialing in.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you sent me a picture of the indoor putting Green, which, wow, and you're going to have. What are you going to have, sam, or are you going to have Quintec?

Speaker 2:

Quintec and putt view, or both. Yeah, no, sam.

Speaker 1:

I'm not a big fan of Sam. Me either.

Speaker 2:

I hate to say anything negative about anybody but as a fitter you know, anytime you got to attach your opinion. Yeah, I don't. I don't like attaching anything to the clubs. You know, I don't feel like you make your true swing or stroke with something hanging off your putter.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, have you worked with Quintec before?

Speaker 2:

I have. I have been the Petty on Quintec before, not the fitter, so really looking forward to diving in. They're coming out to do on site training and Nice do some online software training and whatnot, so I'm excited about it.

Speaker 3:

I will say I went up to. I went with Julian up to Club champion. I do they use Sam or Quintec up there, I can't remember.

Speaker 1:

Sam.

Speaker 3:

Sam, so I brought up my, my putter that you made for me, and here it comes putting with it, and Julian said it looks like this putter was actually made for you. I said it was made for me and he's like it fits you perfectly. There you go. I thank you.

Speaker 4:

Very well with it, and it hasn't. You haven't taken out of your bag, unlike someone else we know, yeah, it's been.

Speaker 3:

It's been in my bag since it was delivered to my doorstep and it's probably not going anywhere until my son becomes of age to putt with it.

Speaker 2:

There you go, that's why it should be yeah, exactly yeah, you used to it.

Speaker 3:

I mean get used to it, pop with it, don't change it, because there's not much change that needs to be done Because you mean there's no band aids.

Speaker 2:

Band aids yeah. And that's you know, that's another. Oh, you kind of segue into another good point. Is that I'm coming out of. I'm coming out of retirement. I'll make him putter. So hey, yeah, the between the membership and the staff at Shell Bay. They're like. You got to start doing this again. What better place to do it than than here?

Speaker 3:

And I was like right you're right, yeah, yeah, that's all I mean. It sounds like a good spot where you could capitalize on that kind of situation, like I mean, bar mitzvahs, anniversary, spring break, spring breaks. You know, chris.

Speaker 1:

Puerto Rican parades.

Speaker 3:

Mine does need refinished, though, so that needs happening at some point.

Speaker 1:

I'll be, I'll be ready. He's used it. He's used it too long. It's it's looking rough.

Speaker 2:

Hey, tigers looks rough, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 1:

Tigers also won, you know, a couple hundred million with it.

Speaker 3:

so I mean, but you should see my sweet spot. It's just like dialed. Oh, it's like tight. Doesn't look like?

Speaker 2:

Matt Sputter Does not baby powder.

Speaker 3:

No, there's yeah, dr Scholls.

Speaker 1:

I'm a disaster right now.

Speaker 3:

This this is.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's not good for me right now, so I'm curious if we're going to see more.

Speaker 4:

I think I wonder if we'll see more of I mean not exactly like Shell Bay, but like maybe this, this idea that more clubs around the country. It seems like it's like a perfect spot down in Miami. It's like the perfect place for that to start, but I could see it happening in maybe Phoenix and some other you know, areas that a lot of tour players and people go. I'm so shocked that it hasn't been done already. I mean, yeah, level.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

Well, it's a. It is a big investment. You know it's, it's, it's not. Let's take a golf course and and dress it up, make it look pretty and hope that this works. I mean, they, they have spent a lot of time and a lot of money to make this pretty damn special.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and we are kind of the case study for how well this will work and if it'll work and I mean I have no doubts that it will I mean we've we're running out of memberships, and I mean just just saying everything and the staff. You know that. And that's another big thing is it's you got to have more than just the facilities and we have the most awesome people. Yeah, I've worked a lot of places and enjoyed working with folks, but I've never so quickly felt like like a family, you know, and everybody's resumes and portfolios are, or top notch, you know. So we've got. We've got the facility, we've got the people, and I'm pretty sure that we will be doing this other places as well in the future, in the future.

Speaker 4:

So did. They were a lot of the guys like the head pro and of course you were sort of like they kind of handpicked who they wanted to come and be part of it. Was there anyone that moved from different clubs that are pretty well known that are down there now?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, I mean, I mean David Armitage, you know he's, he's our fearless leader. You know he's worked with some of the greatest in the game. You know, I think he's still working with Ernie L's. He's got a show on PGA to a radio. He, you know his his resume is, you know, second to few, you know Michael Hunt's, one of our instructors worked with some phenomenal, phenomenal folks and, maybe more importantly than that, done some phenomenal things for people's golf games. You know, which is is important to you know, because you know, at a club like this you're not just working with plus eight handicaps, you know. So I mean that's important. You know we've Tyler's coming in. You know the cat, the cat is like I mentioned. I mean, yeah, everybody's, everybody's, it's kind of a who's who and it's not just the members. Are you gonna have a?

Speaker 1:

top chef finalist. Top chef finalist and winner at your little burger joint right around the corner from where you're working.

Speaker 2:

I mean we might, could, but I don't think anybody could top our chef. So I've gained like eight pounds since I got there three weeks ago just sampling the potential menu items.

Speaker 1:

So what's the feedback on the course been for the? You know the the director.

Speaker 3:

is the grass grown? Is it seated? Is it top trust? Is it it's ready to go?

Speaker 1:

It's ready to go for October 1.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, you could go. They were throwing some sand on it two weeks ago and they might throw a little more out this week. Well, I'm not there, but I mean, when I left Saturday night, you could have gone out and played, I mean for sure.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, it's, you played it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, no, no, we're letting members take the first divots.

Speaker 3:

So nobody's played it.

Speaker 2:

Nobody's played it, even the USGA coming out and rating it. You know it gets played and it rated a 76.1 with 148 slope, which is Jesus. Christ.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's, coyote springs yeah. Love it, holy shit.

Speaker 2:

We're going to sell as many golf balls as we do golf clubs.

Speaker 3:

There you go.

Speaker 4:

When do?

Speaker 3:

you expect a lot of water, a lot of water on the course.

Speaker 2:

There is a lot of water. You know some out of bounds. You know, being in the city surrounded by swamp land. So when do you?

Speaker 4:

expect to get your first tall in one on the course.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, what hole. What part four, and what? Part three.

Speaker 2:

We got a part three. That's a dang. Part four, it's like 290 from the tips. Wow, about 240 for scary, if I, if my angles were right. I've only actually rode the entire course once. I see all the holes you know, around the clubhouse and around the range and whatnot, but we've got. You actually cross Atlantic shore Boulevard to first six, seven, seven or eight of our holes, or, you know, across the street. I don't venture up there too terribly often but the A lot of tee boxes out there. There are, yeah, there's, there's several several teams kind of situation. Yeah, and then what we were talking about the other day was that we'll probably have mixed tea. Well, the member, the member tea will be probably a mixed tea. It'll mean it'll fit any game. It'll fit any game, any handicap. But you know they want to stretch it out and really challenge somebody, that there's no doubt that it it could be a challenge.

Speaker 3:

So, speaking of that, so the sharks involved with it Is there any any future like live tournaments planned out there? Are we going to be able to see it on TV at some point, you think?

Speaker 2:

If I had to guess, I would say probably so yeah, there's, there's a strong possibility. Strong possibility, you know, I don't know all the politics and and and stuff that goes on. There's already. You know their team championship is in Miami. So I don't know they'd want to have two events. I don't know that they'd move.

Speaker 3:

Potentially like next year maybe. Yeah, we just, we just have to see who knows what the fuck's going on with all that shit. Yeah.

Speaker 1:

You know they change. Well, yeah, tuesday you could change.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, our focus is with Jay at the helm.

Speaker 2:

Our focus right now is keeping it, keeping it open for the members and and letting them utilize it how and when they want to, and you know, so we might decide. No, nobody else's is going to come out here and play or trample the grounds, and you know one thing I think it's going to depend. So the day is like there's nowhere for grandstands because we've used every inch of this property to squeeze out 7200 yards and a par three course and phenomenal practice facilities that Now you can make it work, so there's a par three course to. Yeah, we've got a nine whole par three course right behind my awesome Bit facility. Yeah, nice.

Speaker 4:

That's awesome. Yeah, sounds like no appointments today for us.

Speaker 1:

I'm just going to go screw around on the par three course.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, heck, yeah, I'm sure that's where Drake is.

Speaker 3:

Law Sanctuary. You know, yeah, Law Sanctuary, or like in Holly Holly Bros, For me I'm sorry.

Speaker 1:

So if you have the course record, are you going to be able to like claim that, or are they? No? No, you didn't. You don't get it because you're not a member.

Speaker 2:

I don't know the answer to that, but you find out.

Speaker 3:

I did have a question about this right Don't? Don't you have the course record at Sweetens? Technically no, I don't know that's so. That's a thing when, when we stopped by right and we didn't see your name on the and didn't play on the shack, yeah, we did not play at all, we didn't hit any shots out there. Joe played, we didn't. But I'm curious because I know you. I know you shot really low out there and I thought that what I saw on the side of the shack you beat so technically you do, or technically you don't.

Speaker 2:

We played some cross country holes, so I don't think that. I think that messed it up, gotcha. Yeah, that makes sense, then yeah that makes sense. That makes sense I do have. I do have an autographed ball in the shack. If if you'd have found it for the two albatrosses, one yeah.

Speaker 3:

I took a selfie with it and it's right in my bathroom. Okay, I'm just aspiring to be like aspiring to be like where I brush my teeth. I'm like. I'm aspiring to be like Neil today. 80,000 hole in ones today.

Speaker 1:

What are you up to? By the way? What are you up to now, cause I think you've had a couple more since last time you were on.

Speaker 2:

I think it's 32.

Speaker 1:

Okay, maybe not then. I think you were at 32 last time, I think it was 31 maybe I think it was at 31 and then I got 32 this summer. Yeah, okay. That's what it was, april, I know you. You've had one recently, yeah. Great.

Speaker 4:

Part four.

Speaker 1:

I'm not sure what happens. All right, Dan, you've been awful quiet. I know you got to have something. You got to have something on your mind that you need to find out.

Speaker 6:

Well, actually I was just wondering if you, neil, if you in like doing any name drops of like you were pros that you've seen on property or celebrities, you know, maybe you know kind of some movie stars or something like that out there.

Speaker 2:

Not yet, Not yet. But when they start posting that they're out there, then I can confirm or deny a little more freely. But they're still trying to keep everything kind of hushed. We're opening. Yeah, you know, I mean it's these guys. You know, they want that tour experience but they also want to get away. You know, and and I, yeah, I mean I've, it's just probably the best analogy. But you know, when I worked in outdoor television and I'd go, you know, and I was going hunting, duck hunting at a lodge in South Dakota, I didn't want everybody to know because the rednecks that watched outdoor channel. Come bother me. You know, I kind of get it. It's a little different. You know I didn't have paparazzi following me around or nothing, but you know. But yeah, you know it's it's term hush hush, but you know it's just, it's just kind of a respect thing. We're. I get it Letting these folks, if they want folks to know their members, they'll. They'll let it out the bag. But, I don't think they'll be able to keep it quiet when they get out there. They're going to be taking selfies and and pictures of the course and the facilities and they'll be the ones bragging for sure.

Speaker 1:

Beware of Tom Holland Spider-Man is a stick.

Speaker 3:

So I got. I got a question. So say you, you were given the opportunity to play Shelby, right, or you know, whatever the case may be, you were allowed to play Shelby one day and you had a weekend trip that you could plan. What other courses would you play in the area to build yourself the ultimate golf trip weekend?

Speaker 1:

vacation there's, there's Joe right now.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, like, like what other? What other courses would you build on? How would you create that experience? Like would you end it with?

Speaker 7:

Shelby. Would you start with Shelby?

Speaker 3:

Would you go into?

Speaker 7:

a seminal. I mean no, not not like real but, things you could play in the growth.

Speaker 3:

you know, yeah, like would you, would you start it with Shelby, would you end it with Shelby, would you play? The yard is in Jacksonville, which is one I know that deal hands just built that private course out there, somewhat close, I think. But like, how would you build the ultimate golf getaway if you were going to include Shelby into?

Speaker 2:

that Personally places you can play. I mean you'd have to end with Shelby or everything else would be a letdown. Okay okay, you know, from from facilities to the course, you know we're not going to have a lot of play where some, some of the other elite tracks out there, like Trump Dural, pj National, they get a lot of play, you know, and even even over on the West Coast, you know Tiburon, you can get on it, but there's so many, you know you got resort guests, you've got, you know just locals, you know, booking tea times that Tiburon even had. They were even on golf now for a little while. So it's gonna be easy to keep the course and you know tour caliber conditions because we're not going to have that many, that many folks out there and I would presume a lot of folks are going to walk. You know not gonna have the cart traffic, yeah, just combination of facilities and course you'd have to end with Shelby, but yeah. So you know I'd probably try to try to play Trump Dural, I'd probably try to play PJ National. I don't know a whole lot of the courses yet, to be completely honest, you know, because I've been West Coast guy, west Coast Florida, yeah, yeah, I'm starting to learn and you know I filled in with Taylor made, you know, help them out with some events Over there when I was working for them and I hadn't had PJ National and.

Speaker 1:

Dural and Shell would be just an epic. Yeah, I'm probably pretty good.

Speaker 3:

Heck of a tree. I mean even the West Palm Beach. Part three would probably be really fun, you know, just to throw in there.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, oh, yeah. And then that Gilhans?

Speaker 3:

I can't remember the name, but that place looks sick because they have like catties and it looks like it looks really dope to me. Yeah, where is it at?

Speaker 1:

It's over there in West Palm.

Speaker 3:

Beach somewhere. It's like a Gilhans Muni. It looks sick as fuck. But yeah, speaking of West Coast Florida, do you know anything about Cabot Church's farms at all? I was looking at all.

Speaker 2:

I have heard it in conversations, but I don't know a whole lot about it.

Speaker 1:

Okay, Okay, where is it at exactly?

Speaker 4:

Is it near it's North Tampa oh?

Speaker 3:

it's North Tampa, it's not. It's not.

Speaker 4:

My dream song Is it like coast or is it like no, it's inland. So it was the old Wildwood.

Speaker 3:

It's the old Wildwood, the old Tom Fosio complex situation, but they ripped it all up Kyle Francis out there and a couple other guys, but yeah. I got to go hands course.

Speaker 1:

In the other golf trip questions, Joe, for the guy that just got to Miami recently.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, what's your favorite sandwich in Miami?

Speaker 2:

I'd have to say it's the tuna salad that our chef made the other day.

Speaker 3:

I was like it was like so you brand new to Miami, right, You're brand new to Miami, have you? Have you been to Los San Wichiris yet I have not, Okay. So Los San Wichiris is a place to hit. They have this like vinaigrette sauce. It's really good. Have you been to Hermani brothers Hermanti brothers ever? They're from Pittsburgh, but they have a spot in. I think it's Hollywood, I think.

Speaker 2:

I've heard of Hermani brothers.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I've seen it, haven't been there yet. Okay, so they have a spot out there. So go try that. They put the french fries on there with the coleslaw. It's really good too. So Los San Wichiris and Hermani brothers, okay Center New the area. Yeah, los San Wichiris has amazing vinaigrette sauce. They use just more on the sandwich.

Speaker 4:

Joe, you know a shitload about Miami, the food scene in Miami.

Speaker 3:

That's impressive. I was there when LeBron James announced he was going to Miami. I was like literally above the stadium because my friend Sarah used to live out there. She lived in a high rise, like right next to the arena and we were watching on ESPN. He's like I'm taking my talents to South Beach and within 15 minutes there was just a fucking mob in front of that arena and I was like looking at it like a block, two blocks away. It's like holy shit, Crazy, Wow.

Speaker 2:

I had, I had hit my am.

Speaker 3:

I'm not a fan of Miami. I don't like Miami, but there's some good spots out there.

Speaker 2:

I have experienced some of messy mania there.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, oh, yeah, yeah yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I mean that's.

Speaker 4:

I got a question Can we get, can can we get a hat with that shell Bay logo, because that is a very classy logo on it.

Speaker 2:

It is classy.

Speaker 4:

I will send you money to buy a hat. I'll have to see if they will sell one to a non member. We'll have to see we can't have one?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, let them know it. You need a background check first.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, you got a black market run of hats Ready to go.

Speaker 2:

They're going to be popping up on. Alibaba.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, dude, I was on Alibaba today and they were selling trackmans for $400. Oh my gosh, it's like, oh yeah, who's going to fucking buy that if they actually know what it is? It's this big yeah. And they had GC Quads. I got inundated and they say that they're from Indiana, like some like West Glur Indiana electronics company. I looked them up and it looks like they have nothing to do with golf or any kind of situation like that. No, dude, if you're dumb enough to buy a $400 trackman off of Alibaba, you are. You deserve to get your $400 taken away from you, sorry.

Speaker 1:

That's what we should have a segment Don't buy this Alibaba deal.

Speaker 2:

No, y'all should do that.

Speaker 3:

Be, careful on Alibaba.

Speaker 2:

You guys should all buy one thing off Alibaba and then have a show let's see what happens.

Speaker 3:

I just ordered new Hittin' Greens hats off Alibaba and you know it took me a month or two to like really to put the order in, because I was talking to them and they were receptive and I looked at their reviews and you got to be careful, man. I mean, there's so many scams out there nowadays. My wife's mom got it up for some shit and you know it's. They get their money though, but you got to be careful out there.

Speaker 1:

All right, let's take. Let's take a moment. Let's bring in in Maddie G here and get this weekend's weather.

Speaker 7:

What's up everybody, Matt Gunn Tark. We have a big VGN major coming up at Coyote Springs this Saturday. Excited for it. And guess what? The weather really looking nice. I mean high temperatures in the load of a nineties with plenty of sunshine, a few high level clouds, but very dry forecast. Does look dry again this weekend, Saturday and both Sunday, but of course Saturday is going to be our main highlight day. They really want to know about wind speeds fairly light, five to 15 miles per hour and up to the north maybe a little stronger. Looking at Gus, anywhere 15 to 20 miles per hour, but a dry forecast Saturday, temperatures in the morning hours in the seventies and we'll finish off around 95 degrees for a high temperature on Saturday. Looking forward to it. I'll be playing myself. Hopefully I can shoot low, but you know how it goes. I'm just hoping for the best.

Speaker 3:

Hey, maddie G playing this weekend, maddie.

Speaker 1:

G playing. There's what we're going for. I have one of those.

Speaker 3:

OK, so that some hardware, the golf course I was talking about the Gilhans Munique course it's called the park. It's in West Palm. It's a resort like Bill Bill Corbin, french Shaw sheep ranch at Bannon we're talking about that I'm sorry. I'm just saying, that was I just want to make sure Roars gets out there. It's called the park at West in West Palm Beach. There we go. It looks cool.

Speaker 1:

Hey, shout out to Squid Designs. They did our VGN major champion. Two people will walk away with one of these, and then there's the trophy for the winners for each flight.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, like a real roulette.

Speaker 1:

How much have you had to drink tonight, sir? A few OK cheers Joe. This is a roulette wheel, not a roulette.

Speaker 3:

That's what I said. I don't sound. I mean, I'm just trying to recreate your emails that you send everybody.

Speaker 1:

Wow, wow, wow. I'm sorry that I'm informative.

Speaker 3:

No, no, I'm just saying all the typos.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah. Well, I am a type of king, so that you are.

Speaker 2:

It only took you nine years to spell my name, right?

Speaker 3:

Oh.

Speaker 1:

I have to every time I type his name and I have to go to his contact and look at it to make sure I'm spelling it right.

Speaker 3:

No, no, the thing is, is we get emails after the email that says sorry, I miss said this, so I've done that in a while. It's been a while. You're doing better. You're doing better, I'm proud of you.

Speaker 1:

So, anyways, we have the VGN championship this weekend out at Coyote Springs. Jeremy, you were out there this past weekend. Dan, did you play with Jeremy? No, I was working. No you were working. Who do you play?

Speaker 4:

with. Trey. Trey Glenn and a brand of trays, justin, justin S Nice.

Speaker 1:

We played with Justin last time we were out there.

Speaker 4:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

Cyber security guy yeah, course is really good though Greens were super.

Speaker 4:

It's actually really soft they with all the rain we've had and they've been watering and stuff, but courses in really good shape. Super green Greens were running pretty quick but I think they could be quicker. But yeah, overall it's fairly soft. You weren't getting a ton of roll out on the green. You could fire at pins.

Speaker 1:

We'll have to put in a request for an extra rolling.

Speaker 4:

They had some really funky pins out there, though like really difficult pins. I mean, all the greens are hard so it's like no matter where they put the pin, it's going to be a hard pin. But some of them were like three or four feet from, or three or four paces from, the edge of the greens, like there was some greens where you couldn't putt straight at the hole. You had to, like, putt into the rough and have it come down. So there, hopefully they move them, because there were a few that were like virtually impossible.

Speaker 1:

Getting ready for Mitch's. Yeah. Yeah, the last time we played Trey and I were saying the exact same thing because on 14, they had it like far, far on the left side back. I mean it was in a really unusual spot. I've never seen it there before.

Speaker 5:

So that's cool. I like it. Let's mix it up a little bit.

Speaker 1:

Daniel Chippin in on YouTube saying just played coyote. Today Pin locations crazy.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, when's Neil coming out to play coyote springs? Yeah, I'd love to see a Neil holman one out there.

Speaker 1:

They'll maybe next summer. Take your picture.

Speaker 3:

When's your last when, when, when have you been to Las Vegas last, neil, last time I was in Vegas. Have you ever been to Las Vegas, have I?

Speaker 2:

ever been. Yeah, yeah, the last time. It's probably the PGA show yeah, 2017. Oh, 2017.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, look at that, sounds like too long ago.

Speaker 2:

That was not.

Speaker 1:

I think I went and I got one of those. Do you, joe? No, I don't.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that was the year they moved looking for what I can grab that they moved demo day to Topgolf and it was a complete disaster, in my opinion.

Speaker 1:

Oh my God, that was such a shit show. Let's go.

Speaker 2:

Let's go test the new, latest and greatest equipment with flight restricted golf balls.

Speaker 3:

So they, they, they had you play on the top golf balls, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, wow, that's. I hit the new Hanmas in on with Topgolf golf balls.

Speaker 3:

That's fucking ridiculous. Get out of here.

Speaker 1:

The year before it was a dude. These feel like shit. No, they're the balls.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, year before it was that because yeah, the year before was that cascada. Yeah, and you know, you know I was out there, you know, with strokes gained, obviously you know the handcrafted putters and had a killer green for folks to roll balls on. And for the year they moved at the top golf Matt. Well, matt, you were there. They stuck us in like a board room.

Speaker 1:

It's like a four by 10. Yeah. Yeah. It was four and four other people with products.

Speaker 3:

Yeah yeah. We wanted to kind of bring up. I kind of wanted to. I've been seeing this on the internet or Instagram a little bit like the idioticness of like marketing managers for golf brands Like you have like a dude showcasing your gear or your club and their swing looks like they're halfway around their body or it doesn't look like they play golf at all.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

Like for these, for these brands, they need to have somebody that actually plays the game. To be like yo, that does not look right. What are you doing? Yeah, you're trying to showcase your gear to you know demographic, that that is. Really scientific on their shit and they're really into it. And you're looking, you're not fucking projecting it properly, like somebody needs to be out there being like yo. You're fucking your shit up before you even put it out there.

Speaker 1:

You got to have the, the really bad swing. So when you take the video of that and then you use AI to make it a pure swing, to say this is because the pure strike.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, but I mean it. What it comes down to is they're taking pictures of right handed golfers looking like they're doing a left handed swing and it's fucked up. You know those have been around forever, though I know like you can go on Amazon and see someone and showing like a putting mat and it looks like DJ is in a fucking like.

Speaker 4:

He's a micro machine and it's like green screen behind him.

Speaker 1:

You know he's using like a left handed putter, but he's putting right handed, exactly, I don't my, my favorite ones are the girls on the green, like lining up their ball with their glove on with a driver under their arm. Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, like dude, get your shit together, like get someone on your squad. They probably know the Daniel King one Amazon. Yeah that's Amazon, that's like I think I saw. I don't know if it was Louis Vuitton or someone, but get someone in there that knows the fucking game. If you actually want to sell your shit, like, don't make it look fucking redone. You know like People that actually play aren't going to buy your shit if you look like a fucking scam. I don't know man.

Speaker 1:

Like anytime I see that are new to the game, that they just don't care. They just see something and they want to try it and they go buy it.

Speaker 3:

I know but but if you've been around a little bit like a year, like you should know what's going on. You know if you're trying to capitalize on those newcomers like, yeah, get your money, whatever. But if I see a picture of DJ putting on some shit on a green screen on. Amazon. I ain't buying the shit, you know. No, I'm not buying it, disrespect, but it's like golf for a year. Ain't buying that shit. But if, if you you've been playing golf for two months and you see DJ putting on some shit that looks like it's 40 yards away and he's putting with a driver, you might buy it.

Speaker 1:

So, Lord, it's true, though it's actually what he's saying Neil is is in the marketing for Shelby. Have a golfer take the pictures.

Speaker 3:

Don't have, yeah, don't have the door, the wash, the Waltin, get the golf walk out there like someone good yeah.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

Don't skip on the photographer.

Speaker 1:

Hey, hey. Dordache employee, could you come over here for a minute? Put this glove on. I'll give you a better tip. I just need to take your picture, hold this club, pretend like you're driving.

Speaker 2:

That's even so. Even some of the major major apparel companies are doing it.

Speaker 3:

He did Absolutely. You look and do it.

Speaker 2:

You look at the ads and you're like that guy does not play golf.

Speaker 3:

Exactly, that's the thing, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

That's as much as I love their shoes. Their ads all look like pretty boy beach, you know, struttered that that have never been on the golf course of day in their life. Yeah but their shit sells. So I say, all right, so we also. The PGA tour, after its long hiatus, is back this weekend. The Fortinet championship, or Fortinet or however you want to say, it is back. Harry is in the field looking to gain on his already accumulated FedEx cut points in the fall season. It's going to be a pretty good field for this one. Joe, you want to bring up the odds here while I fill the buster a little more. I was surprised to see JT's in this. In the field, max Homo is playing. You guys said last week that Max was going to play.

Speaker 3:

So if he's returning, he's returning champion.

Speaker 1:

Sahith is playing. See who else is on the. Garrick Higo is playing. Brandon Todd not a huge select. Like I said, a lot of these guys that you know we're in the tour championship have no need to play in the fall. They can just rest up. Jt, I think he's trying to get his game dialed for the Ryder Cup, so I respect that. Taylor Montgomery is playing, like said. Harry's playing. Matt Kutcher, justin Suh, christian Bazinghut.

Speaker 3:

I got it up, if you're.

Speaker 1:

Charlie Hoffman.

Speaker 3:

Duffner.

Speaker 1:

All right, it'll run down the odds. Joe, we're not doing any fall series picks, right? Or we're going to wait until January, or do we want to have a little mini contest between now and the end of the year?

Speaker 3:

I think we started it from the get go last year. Is this where you pick a point?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but the new season I would. Do you want to continue with what we already got going? Do you want to say it's over and this is just something bonus?

Speaker 3:

I feel like we don't actually know how it's going to work out, so let's just do what we did last year.

Speaker 1:

Well, this was the start of the season last year, but we can't do that?

Speaker 3:

No, I know that. So does nobody in this field get FedEx Cup points?

Speaker 1:

Yes, everybody get. This is a FedEx Cup event.

Speaker 3:

OK, so then we should.

Speaker 1:

But it goes towards next. The point you accumulate right now goes to your status. Yeah, you don't get any. Everybody starts with zero at Hawaii, but, like Taylor Montgomery right now, he's trying to improve on his status. If you get a win, you get your exemption.

Speaker 3:

And so even if you get FedEx Cup points. In the fall, you still start at zero in January. Yes, yeah.

Speaker 1:

But where you? So the points you accumulate in this fall season moves you up the chart of where your status is for 2024.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I just want to give a shout out to Jay Monaghan. Thank you for this good season. We can do a little side, little fall bet.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, OK, we'll do a little fall series.

Speaker 3:

All right, so yeah, so your favorite, seven to one, max Homa, who he won it back to back, I believe, so he could go triple threat on it. Jt 14 to one. He's probably just trying to get dialed in for Ryder Cup. I saw, I saw some swings today where he's trying to get more under. Someone broke it down, I think it was a little upright. But we'll see, he's going to get. He's going to be a Ryder Cup, so that's going to be awesome next weekend. See, he think all 18 to one. Ham Davis 22 to one. Bo Haasler 28 to one. Eric Cole 35 to one. Brendan Todd 35 to one. Justin Suf 50 to one. Webb Simpson 55 to one. Taylor Montgomery's two to one. Sam Ryder 60 to one. Kevin Strillman 60 to one. Bazaiden Hoot, hoot, hoot Hoot, 70 to one. Luke List 80 to one. Grayson Sig 90 to one. Maddie Niesmith 100 to one. I'm just going to go all the bell Because I'll see Two glasses. Pagan 500 to one. You got Morgan Deaning, deanine, oh. Stanley. Tom Johnson, evan Stadler, arjun Atwal and DA points.

Speaker 1:

Drunk Joe Reed's player names. We had new segments. Yeah, Trevor, where really?

Speaker 3:

What do you name his? His name is Ur-Jun Bowl. Yeah, so all right. So, joe, you won this last season with your 18 million dollar.

Speaker 1:

Take home of what's his name? Victor Poblin.

Speaker 3:

So I called that one too, though. Yeah, you did, that's what I was going to say it was hardcore on that one. I drilled that one in, I called it. I mean, what was he?

Speaker 1:

in third. So Not like I just said, if there's anybody that can come from behind his lover, it's himself. All right, joe picks first, then Jared, then me, then Dan and then Roars. You get a guest pick if you want one.

Speaker 3:

Sure, All right we're going to throw. We're just going to throw a couple. We're going to throw a couple of nerf guns at the window and we're just going to go. Actually, but yeah, where was he at?

Speaker 4:

Newly engaged.

Speaker 3:

He's just, they're like 45 or something like that Darts at 35, 45. Yeah, yeah, 45. Yeah, 45 to one.

Speaker 1:

All right, jeremy. Hmm.

Speaker 4:

Let's go.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to start this year like I started last year Timot 60 to 60. I'll take. I'll take Alex Noran. Noran Alright Roars. So, as a guest pick, what happens if one of us does not make the cut and your player does? They get your points.

Speaker 2:

There we go. That's fun. 51 for Noran. That's much less complicated than the fall point. Yeah, yeah, I think Joel Damon finally finds the winner's circle.

Speaker 1:

Ooh, is he in the field? Did you say his name? I'm looking, yeah.

Speaker 3:

Sure he is.

Speaker 1:

I don't know, I don't see him.

Speaker 2:

That's the.

Speaker 3:

NM no. He's in there, yep 200 to 1. Ooh, that's a main $100 down on it right now. Let's go. Let's go, neil. You can retire and play at Shelby. Yeah, go show him that one Invite only, though I like it. I like the deep one, neil. I like the deep ones For you.

Speaker 1:

That kind of sounds personal, but I just like the high odds.

Speaker 3:

Alright, I think that's a great pick, honestly.

Speaker 1:

Not a bad pick, not a bad pick. We'll see. We'll see how that goes.

Speaker 2:

So is the guy who came in the last season.

Speaker 1:

Hey, hey, third oh.

Speaker 3:
