Speaker 1:

What is up? Everybody Dad is back. Holy crap, was that a shit show last week. I'm just kidding. Pats off to you, joseph, for stepping up and taking over the reins of the chariot while I was away. Special thanks to Chris Torres and Michael Rouschino for hopping on the show and keeping all things relative about Vegas and golf. So thanks to those guys very much.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that turned out pretty good, I think last week.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I enjoyed listening to it. It was fun getting those guys' takes on a few things. I've broken hearted that Mike didn't like Death Valley.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's where your heart is.

Speaker 1:

I mean it's just love the fucking heat. It's not an amazing golf course, but it's just such a unique experience.

Speaker 2:

But well, I mean you got to understand like his drives are probably going like 140 out there.

Speaker 1:

He's been playing good lately. I know, but the elevation out there is negative, so yeah it doesn't affect it that much, it's just it's the wind above the trees and the the, the currents that you can't see. That's so freaking weird about that place, and the grass is just odd. But that's a tale for another day. We got there's a lot of shit and, hey, thanks to everybody that's live with us on YouTube right now, we'll have some things for those viewers that you actually get to see. Everybody else will have to wait until they know this gets pushed out on Wednesday on on YouTube. So we got some stuff coming up for that. But I got a whole plethora of shit to talk about tonight. I was in Arizona, down in Tucson and in the Phoenix Valley. I got some things to talk about there. I visited New Level Golf and a place called Putting World. Wow, I had some golf this weekend and Jeremy and I just had a little discussion about what took place. The mayor was in full effect and we're talking about that. Joe just got back from a trip to Washington Chambers, gold Mountain, sage Cliffs. What was the white horse called White Ghost, or?

Speaker 2:

something White Horse, white Horse.

Speaker 1:

So him, dan and the vegan were up there this last weekend, and Jeremy Jeremy wasn't here. He was in San Diego with the fam. No golf for you, though, right. No sticks traveled with me at all. So Wow, it's weird, isn't it? It is weird, I mean, we stayed at one of the places in Arizona. It was a resort with a course and I was like, no, it's just, do I go get a rental set and go for it or no? And then there's a ton of golf to talk about, because I wasn't here last week, jeremy wasn't here last week, so we didn't get to talk much about the open. The 3M just happened this past weekend. We got the Wyndham coming up, the playoffs are coming up, ryder Cup is coming up. We had a two day event out at Legacy that we didn't get to chat a bunch about. There's a practice round coming up at Alliantay with some of the guys from the VGN this weekend and the Rio Seco two man. So there is a lot to talk about. What spin? Spin the wheel? Where do you? Where do you want to start?

Speaker 2:

First of all, when it? When is the Rio Seco two man the 13th? Two weeks, that's next weekend. Two weeks, okay.

Speaker 1:

Two weeks. You got a baby shower on them.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and then we figured it out.

Speaker 1:

Okay, well, we got to pay Trevor. So yeah, figure it out.

Speaker 2:

And I was just gone for a few days playing 81 holes of golf. So hey, choices you know choices yeah.

Speaker 1:

Everybody makes them, everybody makes them.

Speaker 2:

Well, I think, I think, I think, since you guys are so delayed on the situation, let's go back in time. I think we get your thoughts on the open real quick, we get your thoughts on the legacy tournament real quick, and then we we dive into what happened currently in this past weekend.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so I watched absolutely none of the open, nothing. I I caught glimpses of it. I because I had to get up so early for the, the legacy thing. I caught a little bit of it in the morning as I was, you know, having my getting my coffee and my breakfast ready, but they were done by the time we were done through nine holes and it was a hundred and fucking 15. And we we were, you know, it was hot and I came home I took a cold shower and I just vanged out and and didn't do much and I really wasn't interested in why I have an issue watching delayed tape, delay golf or free play golf, especially if I know the outcome.

Speaker 2:

Well, I mean, that's the thing is like if it was a tighter race, like if there was like a back and forth kind of situation going on you probably would have been more interested and I couldn't watch it. Harman took it away, you know.

Speaker 1:

So I talked to him and his waggling ass, for you know, getting that career, you know, achievement, it's, it's a lifetime achievement for him, big one, big one. I somebody was talking on threads about the four guys that won the majors this year and who most likely is going to do it again, and I said Rom, I don't think Brooks cares to if he wins or not, so it's not like a big thing for him. Brian Harman, I don't think he'll. He'll be lucky to sniff another top 10 on a regular event. You know, I mean, he's a good player and he's a good stick, been around for a while, but he had a career. Four days, you know, just played his ass off for four days and one beat everybody.

Speaker 3:

So wait, did you just say that you don't think Brooks cares if he wins, he like not a big deal.

Speaker 1:

I don't think he I don't think he cares enough to like work hard enough to get to the level where he is like, oh yeah, he's winning two, three more. He could, he, totally could. I think that's. I think he.

Speaker 3:

I think he does. I think that's all he cares about. I mean, I think the lives, the live wins are major, wise yeah. Major wise. I think that's the only time he would. Prep is for majors. Like that, live stuff is just like it's just another. You know, get on the something on the schedule.

Speaker 1:

The other stuff I to to retort that if he doesn't win he doesn't care. You can just see it in his face. If he doesn't play, well, whatever, whatever, it's nothing, I'm out here.

Speaker 2:

So he's like a soul golfer, oh Jesus.

Speaker 1:

I think maybe he's just how long. How long that takes Six minutes six minutes? I don't know.

Speaker 3:

I think, brooks, that might just be the mindset he has. If he's not in contention and he just doesn't let it look like it bothers him, like some people, may you know, just drop you know. Further down, whatever, I think those are the only tournaments he cares about. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

I think I think Brooks grinds as hard as he possibly can on majors, like even if he's back by 10, like he's going to grind as hard as he can, because that's what he wants. He wants to win. If it was the three M open and he was back by 10, he probably wouldn't give a shit.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I just I don't think not playing like real PGA tour golf for the season and just getting you know balls out ready for majors.

Speaker 2:

Well, the dude did that and the PGA championship Like yeah, and he played well with the masters.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah. He played well with the masters and he won PGA and then didn't show up at the US Open, or the but.

Speaker 2:

So he's won. He's won the US Open. He's won the PGA championship. He has he's come close at the masters. Has he come close at the Open?

Speaker 1:

I don't know, I'd have to look.

Speaker 2:

I think he's been like top 10, maybe a couple of times.

Speaker 1:

Right it's that guy you want to get on there.

Speaker 2:

And maybe maybe that's just like his, his thing. Maybe maybe the weather affects him or but they had great weather for the Open and maybe it's just a different style of golf. But like US Open PGA championship, you can't count Brooks out like because, he's won both of them twice and it was back to back, right? Well, at least PGA was back to back.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he, he went back to back in each one, but not in consecutive years. Yeah.

Speaker 3:

Yeah. And his record of the British is his top is the T four. He's had a couple of T six and then mostly either cut or outside top 10.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, Maybe that's just like his. His style of golf doesn't fit it as well. But I mean, I know, I know he cares about winning that, because I guarantee you Brooks wants to win the Grand Slam. He wants a Grand Slam and I'm sure that's. That's probably all he preps for now is for the Grand Slam.

Speaker 1:

I just, I just don't think that's the right way to do it.

Speaker 2:

No, no of course, of course not. I mean, he's probably pretty lazy if it's not major season and and, yeah, that's probably not the right way to do it, but that's what. That's what he does. I mean, no doubt that he goes down in the history books as like a back to back champion, like he's. He's cemented in a legacy and he just he's trying to oh he's got five majors yeah. Yeah. He's trying to see a little bit more. He's trying to let that cement dry a little harder. So he wants masters, though he wants masters.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I know he wants the masters. I just, I just think that if he never wins another major, it's not going to bother him at all.

Speaker 2:

No, I think. I think he feels like he's he's a fucking you know he's a dog. Like he's a hunter, he, you know he's. I feel like in his head he's good, like he knows that he shows up on majors and that's what he wants his legacy to be, you know.

Speaker 1:

Welcome to the Brooks Kepke hour. Yeah, About. Brian.

Speaker 3:

Harmon, though I I mean Brian Harmon's always. He's always up there in the leaderboard, it's just. It's just the week where he had four rounds.

Speaker 2:

He's sneaky Every part of his game was there. He was sneaky yeah.

Speaker 3:

He was due for one, because I think he's played well for so long. He's always there. You've never think about him.

Speaker 1:

Hey, if you can putt well, and I mean and if you can hit fairways, you don't have to bomb it. And you know, the the bombers have never like dominated the, the open series. It's guys that hit fairways, hit greens and can read putts. But I think it's funny. It shows you the the level of coolness, because I don't see anybody out there flippin 15-year-old. They're made airplane putters Like they were with the jailbirds. You know nobody's nobody's rushing out and digging through old claws. It's trying to find that stealth bomber that he puts with things massive, so huge.

Speaker 3:

The size of his head cover must be just disturbing.

Speaker 1:

Oh, you guys lose your shit If you did all his background we would need a Xanax.

Speaker 2:

We would need Xanax for that one.

Speaker 1:

That's too funny, okay, so, uh, the VGN two day event out at legacy. My first question is and we've talked about this, so I know it, but I want to get your opinion for everybody that's listening how surprised were you?

Speaker 3:

at legacy Very, very pleasantly surprised.

Speaker 2:

Yeah totally.

Speaker 1:

I mean they've the Revere company, uh, has had it for a month, um, and I've already seen improvements, already seen improvements, um better grass conditions, better greens. Uh, they know the bunkers are trash and it's going to be work in progress, but, uh, I mean they're going to be set up right for a a good overseas. And if they do it, I gotta find out. If they do it, I imagine that they're going to and uh, yeah, that's, that's going to be a great place to play golf again. And if you I don't know if you noticed this I I'm getting the emails in the, you know, for the VGN stuff, but they're sending out emails like crazy offering the, the resident rates. I mean you can play there at two o'clock for 35 bucks, yeah. Yeah, is okay, I mean, it's one of my favorite routings in town. Um, back in the back in the nineties it was just absolutely a legit golf course, gone through a lot of trouble, you know, in the last decade. And, uh, hopefully, hopefully that they, they can bring it back and get it just a smidge bit of its glory days, and I think we're we're going to be fortunate to have that in our neck of the woods.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I think it looked great and it was. It was as much as I hated to see like workers out there working on the course while we were playing. I appreciated it, um to to see, and actually you know they're they're putting work in which, which we were able to tell while we were playing. Yeah. Um, it looks, it looks a world world of difference, uh, from when we last played it, I think, maybe like in January, but uh, they're, they're, they're putting something into it which I appreciate. So, um, it's uh, yeah, I love legacy. Legacy is great.

Speaker 1:

Routing it's a good deal for the most part usually, and um, Well, it hasn't been, but now it's back to a good deal, yeah.

Speaker 2:

I hope. I hope it gets back to where it was, um, because I like that place, I enjoy, I enjoy playing like see 100%, it's so good.

Speaker 1:

Such a fun course to play.

Speaker 2:

Steven.

Speaker 1:

Steven Jackson is saying that. You know, he played in a grant event out there and he was like I'm never coming back to this. And then he played and he was like dude, this is night and day.

Speaker 2:

Night and day compared to what it was yeah, I mean, greens could have probably been cut a little bit and uh rolled, but um.

Speaker 1:

I thought they were really good on Sunday.

Speaker 2:

They were better on Sunday, for sure, but I think they could have used another roll or or another cut or something like that. They were. They were so close to being really really, really good. Yeah, I mean, they were good. They're better than we've seen in years, so, but, um, it's close and I love seeing them out there, but in the work, yeah, it was nice.

Speaker 1:

Uh, I was, I was in contention, man I. I threw 14 holes on day two. I was tied for the lead and I had a lip out putt on, uh, the part of five for par. I had a lip out putt on the par three for par. That was two strokes right there. And then I snap, hooked my drive on the 16th hole and, uh, then the strangest thing happened on 18. I hit a great drive. Um, I was 225 out and I'm like I gotta go for it. You know, I gotta get something here, you know. And uh, I said I'm uh little suspect on the on the the five wood right now. And so I said, you know, I'm hitting the hybrid really good, let's just run this fucker up there and and right up that mouth. And I hit it and it came out kind of low, lower than I was hoping, and Victor and I were watching it, and it went into the ground like near the edge of the lake and we never saw it again. It didn't, it didn't bounce, it didn't birds Didn't fly up, ducks, geese, nothing moot.

Speaker 3:

It just disappeared into a vortex and uh, it was dissolved by the pink sprinkler water.

Speaker 1:

Oh, I was so upset that you know that dropped me that taking that penalty. And so I uh, yeah, I played really well for uh, let's see what was that Seven, uh, 36 or 32 holes. I played really well for 31 holes and then the last, last four, I 32, and last four, I shit the bed. So, uh, but congrats to our winners out there. Uh, let's see Jeremy Belflower got his first W in the VGN, in the Diamonds division, so congrats to him. Uh see Alessandro got his first win in the spades. Um, great dude. Uh, he was so happy that he won and I was glad that he came out there. Luckily, the uh, the grant canceled the event and he was scheduled to play in Um, so he was able to come out and uh made, uh, made a day of it for him. See who won? And the hearts was oh, brad Mark got his first win.

Speaker 2:

Uh, congrats to Brad for that I watched him play.

Speaker 1:

He was, he was on fire.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he was just so happy for him.

Speaker 1:

A lot of pars, yeah he's, he's a good guy. Uh and uh, Chaz, chaz Glosson, um, who has not been playing really good golf at all, has found something, and his last couple of rounds he's played really well and you get 20, something strokes and you play decent. You're going to win a lot of tournaments in the clubs division, so congrats to those guys. Our next event is out at Ali Ante on the 19th. Uh said in the rundown we got a practice brown out there this Saturday. There's 12 of us that are going out there just to check it out and see what it's like. So I will have a report next week for that. So that covers that and the practice round. Okay, so you want me to go first, joe, or you want to go Go ahead and go? All right, I haven't been here in two weeks, so hang on, let me get a perched already. Let me start off real quick Okay.

Speaker 3:

Okay, yeah, so I went to Lego land for two days. Holy shit it's. If you don't get there before like 10 am, you're gonna spend in like an hour and a half in line to get in. And then we went to the zoo, which was phenomenal. I wish we would have done two days at the zoo because we didn't have enough time to see everything, but we drove up to LA's, visited Santa Monica Pier, hung out up there for a while. La is getting cleaned up. They're cleaning up really homeless problem they have there.

Speaker 2:

It was. I watched some documentaries on that last week, honestly, yeah.

Speaker 3:

They've done a lot of work. It was bad when we went there about maybe not even a year ago. And this when you exit the 405 in Santa Monica to go on Santa Monica Boulevard, every the freeway is lined with homeless camps. Now there's no one. It's they've done a ton of work. No, nothing on the pier. It was so packed though man the beaches there were a joke. But anyway, if you're, if you want to go to Southern California for some beach vacation, don't go in the summer.

Speaker 4:

No, there's no parking, there's nowhere to sit on the beach. Oh yeah, but it was amazing, but anyway yeah, no golf fun and family trip.

Speaker 1:

Did you go to Mission Beach at all?

Speaker 3:

We did. We went to Coronado. We went to La Jolla shore, like the Cove we went to. We stayed in Carlsbad, so we were up in there, oceanside. Lots of good food drove by the crossings every day because our hotel is right by the crossings, legoland right there. So yeah, titlist we saw the.

Speaker 1:

Hanma, that's right. You were right next to Titlist and you didn't go in.

Speaker 3:

I was going to, but I didn't want to be a weirdo like going in there, because I don't know if they have like a store or something or if it's like a secretary.

Speaker 1:

The doors slide open. They're like welcome Mr Martin. Right this way, we've been waiting. Yeah, san Diego is a tough place to go and not like all, because there's so many oh man, you had the crossing those right there and Goat Hill, and yeah, coronado, yeah Anyway, but I will. I will agree. The zoo is amazing. It's so damn cool. Was where the. Did you see pandas, were they?

Speaker 3:

there. They sent the pandas back to China, unfortunately, but they did have red pandas and the koalas had just had babies and there was. So did you?

Speaker 1:

see the the panda like exhibit where they're at. Did you see how? Since there was nobody there, it was empty. So did you see how long the line can be?

Speaker 3:

Oh yeah.

Speaker 1:

So so we were there, we went in in this was a while ago but we went in August Great time to go Super hot, smells amazing. But there's nobody there. So that's that's why we did it. And the pandas were there, and so we there was like maybe 10 people before you got around to the glass where you could see them. And so we go in and there's just this pandas ass up in a tree.

Speaker 3:

Yep.

Speaker 1:

Didn't move, didn't do nothing. And I looked at Eric and I said could you imagine waiting two and a half hours in line to look at a panda's ass? Speaking of asses.

Speaker 3:

So of course we have to visit the baboons, and it was our last one. They're like we have to see the baboons. Okay, we're walking clear back across the zoo to see the baboons. Zev is never seen a baboon as soon as we walk up. Why is his ass pink? I'm like that's just that's a red ass baboon. Yeah, so that's the first thing that kids see when they see a baboon is the pink ass. So anyway, good times, let's hear your golf related stories.

Speaker 1:

Okay. So this was a trip to visit ASU and U of A for my oldest, who's getting ready to start her senior year one week from today. So we wanted to get in a couple college visits as a school, a couple schools she's interested in. So went down there and did some tours. I will say I hope there's not a lot of people from Tucson listening I don't like that place, not the school. The school, the campus was amazing. The people we met there were amazing. Their facilities are outstanding. But Tucson is like I did not like it at all and I'll just leave it that. So, as we went down to ASU on Monday, then drove down to Tucson, stayed there Monday night, did the tour Tuesday, came back to Phoenix and stayed at a place called the Arizona Grand, which has a water park attached to it. So we were going to do a couple days there. And we got back and I said, hey, I'm going to go up and visit Doc at a new level because they're in a new spot. And so I went up and saw him and checked out the place. Wow, unbelievable facility they have. So the, the sports management company that is a part of True and New Level and True Links where it's all in one facility. There's a True showroom where they have all the shoes on display. There's a display of all the new level irons. I posted some pictures on this right here my so-called golf life on Instagram, so go check that out if you want to see what is a little video clips. They have a huge build shop in the back for New Level. They have a simulator, a big putting green. Then they have a workout room where they have all their other players that True represents and the sports management company I'm drawing a blank on their name right now. I'm terrible and Rod and I apologize, but they come in and they have a workout facility. They got massage tables, they got another simulator, another putting green, all you name the workout equipment. They got it there for them. There's physios on site and then the management offices for True South New Level are all right there. So got a tour of the place, got to walk around, check it out. It's an amazing facility compared to where they were. Oh my goodness, complete, complete upgrade for them. Got a peek at a couple new clubs that are coming out that I'm not allowed to talk about, but very happy for them and can't wait to see what comes out this fall. That was fun hanging with Rodin. Hit the hybrid, the New Level, hyrid, which is a really good stick. It was funny, Doc being the fitting guy that he is, I was telling him what I was playing and when I was hitting, and he goes oh hit this. I'm like I don't like the hazardous red. I have not been able to hit it. Well, it's like oh, I got a Vintage in this one, it's okay. So I hit it a couple times. Humor me. Hit this and of course I freaking smoked it and I'm like God damn it, I hate you, so did you order the shaft already. No, I just I wouldn't allow myself. Believe me, I want to, but I'm not going to do it because I'm sure I could find one in the resell bin at PGA Superstore for dirt cheap, All right. So that was New Level. If you're in the Phoenix Scottsdale area, go check it out. I mean, it's an amazing facility and New Level is doing some really good things. Excited that, I have them in my bag and then we stayed the final night. We stayed all the way to Happy Valley, which is almost near Anthem, very, very, very north end of the valley. It's almost out of the valley pretty much. But on the way there I stopped by Putting World, which is just across the street from TPC Scottsdale, and I had seen a couple videos on their Instagram and I'm like man, that place looks really cool, it's unbelievable. I mean I was blown away and you know I've. It kind of takes a lot to make me go holy crap, you know. But you walk in and they've got a full retail spot to the left. There's like a Mater D there that greets you and asks you you know, what are you here for? Had your first time, what are you looking for? But the retail space tons of different apparel options and they got a ton of head covers. They got some bed and arty ones boxed up and they got that whole wall of covers. They got their brand and Travis Matthew and I mean it's. It's a really great setup for retail. They have an 18 hole putting course and it's like legit putting greens. It's not no putt putt with pavers, you know, separating to and glow in the dark paint. It's. It's, it's a legit putting course. There's no volcano holes, there's no windmills, it's a. It is. It's pretty freaking special. They got lasers that come down from the ceiling for where you can tee it off. They've got a digital display of the hole on a little kiosk. There's also a bar. There's also a restaurant. There's also three fitting studios. There's also some event space. They have like a 60 foot putt that's completely flat, that they call the speed zone. They have the private area upstairs. They have lockers. You can get your name on a locker and keep your putter in your locker. It's, it's not cheap. It it's 30 bucks. But you get all day you can play all day.

Speaker 2:

I'm sure they have memberships too, right oh?

Speaker 1:

yeah, yeah. But you know I wasn't going to drop $120 to have three people that don't give a shit about golf come play this amazing place and taint it. So I said thanks. I'll be back and chat with a couple guys and they are definitely looking to expand to Vegas. But I mean it is, it's not, it's like a, like a savers size store. I mean it's. You know, in our shopping malls out here, the, the, it's, it's a big fucking place. It's huge. You know, you think like five iron is is tiny, like five iron. Our five iron here in Vegas there's like half of it would have been their retail spice. Yeah, it's, it's, it's a great facility. There's been a ton of money but it's pretty fucking legit. So again, phoenix, people go check that place out. It's, it's amazing. All right, that's my Arizona trip. It was hot, it was 118 degrees down there, and in Tucson it doesn't feel like it's 118, but Phoenix it feels like 118. It's, it's weird. Is it humid down there? No man, little, not much.

Speaker 3:

They have the major major, like monsoon things set over Mexico. That was like San Diego was like 80% humidity and it was like 90 degrees. I've never felt that before. It's super weird, so I was just wondering if Arizona got that. But all right, Joe, I am ready to hear this. I've seen. I've seen the videos. I've seen the pictures. I'm so ready to read the book, so let's let's start from the top.

Speaker 1:

Start with Bob. Let's hear Bob's story first. Let's start with how many times Bob lost his shit because they did not have a vegan option.

Speaker 2:

No, no, no vegan option. The vegan options were everywhere.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Wow, we're in Washington, vegan country. Yeah, we were in vegan country, so start from the top. I set my alarm for for 415 the night before. Now I'm not going to start there, all right, so yeah we about that. Yeah, we, we landed. So me, me and Dan flew out. Bob flew on a different flight because he didn't know where he was going to be but it took forever for Bob to get his fucking bags. So that was one boiling point potentially for Bob and thankfully, when I saw it rising into like the 85% of boiling point, clubs popped out of the oversized baggage drop so they came out and then it was a whole nother thing for the rental car and all that we we had to go to offsite and we had the line was long and blah, blah, blah. So it took a long time for us to get out of the SeaTac airport. But the first stop was a Viva vegan restaurant. So Bob forced us I don't want to say forced, but you know me and Dan are obviously not vegan so the first spot we hit for food was a vegan restaurant.

Speaker 1:

That's a little bit.

Speaker 2:

And.

Speaker 3:

I was like I.

Speaker 2:

It was like I don't know if I could do this. I don't know if I could do it.

Speaker 3:

But, the vegan nachos.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, yeah, totally, totally payback for Georgia. Dan got some sort of garbanzo bean meatball club sandwich thing. I mean it was decent, but I got some nachos. They were, they were. They were pretty good. But first stop was obviously chambers Bay. We had a tea time at 3.36 PM. What was really crazy is right off the bat. So when I booked the tea time it was 280 per player. We walked out of there or we paid and they're like 330 or whatever it was, and we're like the fucks, we're walking out. I'm like I swear it was 280. So I'm like I look up my email like yeah, 280. And then I pull out my receipt. It was $50 in tax. What? It was $330, and $48 of that was tax.

Speaker 1:

Is that a fun tax?

Speaker 2:

No, I don't know what it was, because I didn't. I didn't notice that tax on other courses that we played it just $50.

Speaker 1:

It's a former quarry tax.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I mean potentially, but $50 on $50 tax, a $280 golf round is pretty fucking wild. That's steep, that's I don't know what it we were trying to do the math, but anyway, we rolled up chambers is a very, very, very tough walk. It's, it's very steep, it's a, it's a rough one. I looked it up today because I was going through my app, my iPhone, and seeing my health data and all that. It's, it's, it's. I found an article where it said from 2015, where it was about the. I think it was like Hendrick Hendrick Stensen or somebody saying how brutal of a walk it was, and they mentioned it's 10 miles, which I looked at my health data and it's somewhere around there. It's nine, it's like eight and a half to 10 miles walk it's, it's, it's pretty fucking brutal. And so I just want to give a shout out to on Instagram I don't remember his name but BG Hansen the guy we met out of yeah.

Speaker 1:

He does it every year.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he's done the chamber solstice. Like to do that. Four rounds in one day, that is tough, dude. That's 40 miles.

Speaker 1:

And his pops does it with him too, right.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it's, it's a really brutal walk really really brutal walk. But chambers between, like greens and teas. It's not too bad, it's. I mean, yeah, there's, there's. There's a few walks that there was a few walks that really got us like eight to nine was pretty brutal, and then 12 to 13 is when I really like I was like Holy shit, this is rough, but the only like chambers was awesome. Right, like great course, us Open course. I don't think the US Open's ever going going to go back there. Oh yeah, they are. They're, they're, they're not in the books.

Speaker 1:

Are you sure I swear I saw it, I looked it up.

Speaker 2:

They're not in the books. I think US USGA, like junior something's going there and then something else is going there like the amateur or something like that, but with all the you know back in the day that was 2015. Yeah, a lot of a lot of hostility from the players Gary Player calling them broccoli greens and all that shit which the greens weren't the greatest, a lot of skipping, but I feel like that's the way it was meant to be. Out there, they punched and verticut and top seeded the Monday before we got there, which we played on Friday and they they were pretty good, but not not the greens you would hope for but it. But it was a lot of creativity out there that you can get into. The greens had a lot of movement. Playing previous Robert Trent Jones courses it was. It was different from what he's that I've played. I didn't expect that to be like a Robert Trent Jones course but my only really like gripe about Chambers Bay and it's like I loved it right, but there was quite a few times where I felt like I was playing the same tee shot.

Speaker 1:

Oh at Balle Hyde you.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so there I think there was like at least four holes where it's there's bunkers on the right. It's a dog leg to the right. You got to cover the bunkers if you want the best line and there's at least four holes out there like that. That. That was my biggest gripe. The back nine is a lot better than the front nine. In my opinion, probably the greatest hole that we ever that we played during the whole trip was number 10. Like, number 10 took my breath away. It was great. It wasn't along the water or anything like that, but it has two like it has like on the right hand side of the fairway and green there's a dune kind of medium size and then on the left side it's higher and the way it like frames the holes really sick. And we got trains. We got trains on 15, 16. There was there was a lot of trains coming through and I asked we had a single with us and his caddy. He he's been out there a few times, he just started recently. But I asked him. I was like, how many times does the train come by? He's like some days it's it never comes by. Some days it's like once, twice, sometimes it's 15. So we. I heard at least 10 trains come by during the round, which was really cool, and all I wanted was a train to come by on 15 and 16. And we got it like that that was. I wanted to see that and that's what we got.

Speaker 1:

So that was awesome, but um, did you get to train at Winter Park when you played?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it came by. Actually, on what hole is that? Whatever?

Speaker 1:

it is seven, I think it is.

Speaker 2:

It's like seven, or seven, yeah, because it goes seven, eight, yeah, yeah, yeah, Seven, seven and eight. I think Think we got on seven on our tee shot. So I mean I've gotten really lucky with trains, so thankfully. But Chambers Bay, I was like, well, these guys thought I was going to cry on on the course.

Speaker 4:

I was like it's not happening here, like I'm not going to, cry.

Speaker 2:

I'm not crying on Chambers, it's different, man Like. So a lot of people compare it to banding and it is similar in a way, but it just doesn't have that. It's one course. It doesn't have that persona, that experience. You know it's a little bit different, um, in a way, but it was sick Like I totally would love to play it again, knowing it, because there's a lot of there's a lot of creativity you can have out there, a lot of spots that you can hit it. But my biggest gripe about it being a US open course and really, really wanting to love that place a lot, I felt like I played the same hole a couple of times and and I you know that kind of sucks when you feel like you played the same hole a couple of times.

Speaker 3:

You guys drive. You drive the hole on the green on number 12?.

Speaker 2:

On number 12? Uh, no, I did not. I got well. I think I was on the front, the frontest edge that you can get. I think it was like right on the edge Green looks on the fringe, that and we got a really, really nasty pin on that one. It was, um, like the bowl is on the left, it was like on the top, um, like mid tier, kind of right before the bowl, and Bob had a. Bob had a great one up there. We literally thought it was in the hole. He had a great one and it was. It died in that bowl. You know the ball on the left hand side. He hit the top hill and it probably came down and came back behind mine. So on that one my T-Shirt went further than Bob's by eight inches, but really cool. Uh, the next, the climb after 12 is pretty rough, like, and it's it's fairly short. It's probably like 60, 80 feet. You have to climb up this little hill and I was like after that I was like dude, this, this fucking shit is tough. It was a rough walk, it really was. And the sun was the sun was beating down on us. I mean it was 76 degrees, but no clouds in the skies, no trees on the course other than the lone fur, and it was just. It was right on top of us all. At the end it was.

Speaker 1:

It was pretty brutal but really cool Was it worth 330?.

Speaker 2:

To play a US open course, 100%. We were on the JST. You know that's what we were calling it the Jordan Speed Tour, jst. Oh, geez, because, because the next course that we played the next morning was Gold Mountain, which was where, um, I think it was Jordan Speese first win with Grelor out at Gold Mountain where he won the US amateurs, something like that, one of those tournaments. But yeah, we were on the JST, it was worth it. I mean, if, if you're going to spend around $300 for a US open course I mean they played the US open there you know like Tiger walked those grounds. You know DJ three put it on 18. You can't get that at Shadow Creek Spending $1,000. I think it's pretty cool. But, um, finishing up on chambers, that that 18 told bunker, that little bunker in the middle, that death bunker, is fucking crazy. It's probably 20 feet deep I'm exaggerating probably a few feet, but it's in the middle of the fairway where those long hitters are probably going to drive it and it's very easy to get in there. That shit is fucking brutal. It's deep as fuck and there's, there's nothing you can do. You, you, you have to like lob, wedge it out of there and advance it five feet Maybe it's insane.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, James was telling me that they they can stretch that course out to almost 8,000 yards.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and they have the teas moved up quite a bit. You know, bob wanted to play from the back and then we were going and Because because a lot of the tea, the US open teas, are kind of hidden, they're like tucked behind like, yeah, dunes and stuff like that, you don't even really see them. So there was a couple where we we teed off from the the Tea behind it, but there was even a tea further back. They can stretch that shit out for sure. Yeah, it's crazy and it's he leveled to. Yeah, yeah, it was cool, though I eat. If I Recommend playing it 100%, totally, if you're in the area, go play it, and if you want to take a golf trip, go play it. It's right there. There's a lot of great golf up there, like you, if you're up there, don't skip it. I mean, it's a US open course, it's.

Speaker 1:

It's something that it's different from anything else up there too unless you're on a family national park tour and don't have golf clubs to.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but I'm sure they got Reynolds. One thing that was really really upset us was the. The pro shop is lacking pretty hard. We didn't buy. None of us bought anything from a pro shop, I think. Actually, I think Bob bought one t-shirt. You didn't buy golf balls I'm not about logo balls, yeah, but Bob's because chambers Bay has the loan fur. It's the one trillion golf course. Bob was picking up the t-shirt because he we were all looking for stuff, like wanting to buy something, and it was kind of lackluster. But they did have some new era snap or new era fitted, which you know if you listen to the podcast. You know that I think every golf course should have New era fitted's. They had them there. They had three left and they were all like way too small and they said they're not making them again. So a shout out for that pro shop for doing those, because we're trying at least. Yeah, absolutely. And if, if I would have played there like a year ago, probably would have my size and I would have loved it, I would probably would have bought four of them. But Bob picked up. Bob picked up an imperial t-shirt, you know, with the loan fur on it and I whispered to Dan I was like that's cool, but it's not better than ghost tree, like the loan furs. I mean, it's a fir tree, I get it, it's the single one out there, but the ghost trees weighed up for the loan fur.

Speaker 1:

It's an iconic image.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it totally is. I get it. But there's a don't skip it great course, us open course. Like I said, a lot of creativity out there, a Lot of rumpels in the fairways, some cool t-shots out there. Best all out there, 100% in my opinion, is number 10. Cool finish. That bunker on the end is amazing. But yeah, I'm happy, I'm happy we played it. I'm. I have no gripes about paying $330 for it. You fall asleep. Dragon this shit out man Sorry, sorry, sorry Sorry. Oh so, yeah, the next morning we played gold mountain. It's a muni which was interesting. Frontline is is pretty basic cool. I mean for us out here in Vegas with trees, tree line fairways and things like that, a lot of trees Obviously gonna think it's pretty cool because we don't get that off very often. But back nine had a lot of character. Back nine at gold mountain is is much better than the front nine. We played Olympic, I think, because we were told to skip cascade so we only played Olympic Driver bull par four at the end a lot of character. There was an area where I think it was 16, 16, yeah, 15, 16. It felt kind of like an Augusta situation, like like a low pond, and then it kind of felt like a Like a valley, like kind of like a bowl situation, like that was really cool. I beat Bob and Dan on the on the back nine, which was sick.

Speaker 1:

It was so funny. I said I said Joe message. I'm like dude, what the fuck is wrong with you. Why are you playing so bad? How are you 0 for 7 on fairways? And then I look at his card he shot a 35. You should have started talking shit earlier.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so we, we started on the back nine and we played 10 and 11 and then Bob said hey, dan, you want to play for lunch on this last seven holes. So I didn't say anything, you know, and they didn't give me any stipulations, but Bob, was like hey, one in on this, you wanted on this because I started. I started, I started grooving a little bit like 10 11. I started feeling a little bit I think I part both those and and on. With seven holes left, bob's like do you want in on it? I was like, yeah, how many shots? So I get? He said two and then you get a half stroke to break ties. So I was like I'll take three strokes. Because I looked at the card and it was the holes left where I would get strokes was handicapped to any cap for and he kept six. So I figured hey, must be the Obviously three, the hardest holes on the back nine. So I was like I'll take the three. And yeah, I basically Scored the same as them gross, like I probably could have. I probably could have beat them net or gross, if I remember correctly, because I went, I went bogey, we all bogeyed, went par, we all parred. So yeah, and Birdie, birdie, finish on like one very tight driving hole on 17 which is sick. And then I threw it real tight like to 8 feet on 17, drain that. And then they all went for the green because 18 is a drivable par 4 and I laid up and they were talking shit. I was like I'm trying to close it out. And I almost dunked it for an eagle. I was, I was, I was four inches probably To the hole, so I just tapped that one in and took lunch from them.

Speaker 1:

So, and then, Did you eat at a vegan restaurant?

Speaker 2:

No, but I don't remember enough that. But trachy trachy kept talking about these onion rings on a gold mountain, like he's told me about him for months. He's like you got to go get the onion rings when we're playing. He texted me. He's like make sure you get the unrains. And it would none of us really want to get the onion rings out of the house. They can nobody I was like Bob's Bob saying like, do you want fucking? You're not sitting next to me in the car if you're gonna eat onion rings, you know. So this, I'm like I don't really fucking want them, but like I feel like we need to do this for Trey, like cuz Trey's gonna be upset if we're up here and we don't get the onion rings. So Dan's like, well, let's just, let's just get on a ring will split them. I'm like I don't really want onion rings right now, so, but I truly believe in Trey's culinary decisions. So we ended up going in grabbing a beer and getting on your rings to go. We sat down and, julie, three pounds of salty mozzarella sticks and we'll get to that. We're not there yet, dan. But so we got the onion rings and, and they were. They were really good on your rings, no doubt about that. Like, would I have texted my friend 87 times to eat the onion rings? I don't know, maybe a couple, but I think it all lies in the sauce. I think it lies in the sauce that, the digi that they give you with it. So they were really good, though. Did I want to eat them? Not necessarily, but did I eat them? Yes, and were they good? Yes.

Speaker 1:

All right. So we got to know about this. Three pounds of salty mozzarella sticks All right.

Speaker 2:

So where are we at? We're at gold Mountain. So after gold Mountain, White horse we have to go find another fucking vegan restaurant, Right? So we got an hour drive to white horse, so about 15 minutes away from white white horse. This is really cool. This was a really cool stop. So we go to Poles bow and we are at a Poles bow in Washington.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I think we drove through it so like the Viking town.

Speaker 2:

It's really cool that where white horse is like it's like 15, 20 minutes away from there but it's like where the Vikings like came or some shit and they force the Indians out or wherever to go to build their casino, whatever the situation was. But so we go to smoking Jays vegan, 100% plant-based burgers. And Dan's like ready for it because he hears burgers and we're. He thinks that we're going to get burgers. So we show up there and it's Like dude, you understand, these are all vegan burgers. He's like are you sure all of them are? I said it said the little sign says 100% plant-based. We know we're not getting any meat in this place. So me and Dan went to the next one and it was. It was like a look. It was called the kraken bronze, whatever kraken, whatever the bronze crack kraken had some beers. Dan got his food, bob brought his food over and I got some one ton wrapped mozzarella sticks. I did not eat three pounds of salty mozzarella but I Took a couple bites and they were too salty and I bit my lip the other day and they were hella salty. So I couldn't eat them. Yeah, it was. It was a really cool spot. I'm glad that that spot was there for Bob to take us to, because it was a cool little town. I don't think we would have saw it any other way if there wasn't a vegan restaurant. Yeah, I don't think we would have stopped there. We hit up and grabbed some things for Theo and Katie and there was a little bakery there which had a line out the door, so grabbed some cinnamon rolls and a vegan strudel for Bobby and then after that we went up to white horse, which is a Another well, that's the first one of the thing. But Indian reservation like casino ran golf course Designed by Cynthia die, niece of Pete died died design golf course. Really cool spot. Like the woods at this course were a little bit thicker. Like if you hear your ball out, you're you're not finding it the most interesting greens that we found up to this point. Like I'll tell you at the end what my favorite things were or my favorite course was, but Really cool like this you know, when you're on a golf trip, to me, like I think the the second 18 of the day is like Blast your music, have some drinks, enjoy yourself. And that's like you. Like how we did at the preserve when you made your hole in one out at Reynolds. Like we were playing music, we were drinking yep, it was the second round of the day. Like we're not fresh out of bed and it was just, it was just a really good time. That's that's how I felt white horse was. I didn't, I didn't. I Don't remember a shit ton of that, golf course, but I remember I enjoyed it and I had a lot of fun, like we were. We were bumping music and I was drinking, so, but cool, routing, interesting greens. They took out like 150 bunkers out of no, it's not a hundred bunkers. That's the guy at Chambers that told us that they took out four dozen bunkers, so 48 bunkers. It used to be much harder but a lot of people started complaining about it because it was too hard. Yeah, so they took out 50 bunkers and it was still pretty hard. Like it's. It's. It's pretty tight, driving wise and the greens are tough. Greens were in great shape, best greens. We played the entire trip 100%, a lot of movements and beer it's out there, but it was fun. And then you know it's kind of a theme, right like the, the Indian reservations, like they know how to do golf like, and they do it right like, just like Paiute like white horse.

Speaker 1:

They run the dope course in globes, though.

Speaker 2:

So well, like and like Salish cliffs, which I'll get into on the next one, but that was. That was a really fun one. I enjoyed white horse a shit ton. And after white horse we went out to, we went back home Grab Bobby some fucking cauliflower or whatever it was and then we ordered some pop John's. So the next morning we had an early one and we we had an hour drive out to Salish cliffs, which is another Indian reservation golf course. And Salish cliffs was sick. It was out in Olympia, outside Olympia, north West, roughly from Olympia, and Fucking socks off like it was. It was Shadow Creek. It was. If it was in this city it'd be a thousand dollar golf course, no question. Wow, really well maintained the front nine. They redid all the bunkers like they looked white as Augusta. Back nine is still being worked on. We saw some On number nine. Where they're they? They epoxied the Gravel in under the sand and the drainage and Like they're doing it right out. There it was. It was really sick. That that was my favorite. I think Dan agreed with me. Salish cliffs with a little more interesting greens like white horse, no brainer like that, that's. That's as good as it gets. Really really cool spot and we finished 18 and then we were sitting there returning our cart and we're like what did we want to do? Should we find another golf course? We check out a replay. And they, the cart barn dude. He's like you guys trying to go back out, what are you trying to do? Like what, what would you get? Because we were sitting there for a few minutes. We're like, well, we're trying to do a replay or we're trying to go somewhere else. And he's like I don't think I stacked today, guys, so I don't think you're gonna get out until like 1.20 or something. I don't think you're gonna get out until like 1.20, which our flights didn't allow. So he, he went in, checked on the time. He's like hey, I, he came back. He's like hey, we can get you out right now on the back. Nine, we're not gonna charge you, but if you want to go, go ahead.

Speaker 1:

Oh sick.

Speaker 2:

So of course you can't say no to free golf. Let's say it was cliffs like places, sick, super sick. I, if you're in the area, do not skip, just go to say it's cliffs. If you're in the area, no doubt in my mind You'll, you will enjoy it. But so after I think we played 10, 11, then 12, then start talking about my feet were getting a little soggy, so Bob's like let's just do it. You know talking about going barefoot, so we would go. Yeah, we went barefoot back six and that was a lot of fun it was, it was good.

Speaker 1:

So you say Salish, then chambers.

Speaker 2:

So for me, yeah, it would be. It would be sale like as good as it gets. Is Salish with white horse greens. I know that's not really like a thing, a scale that you can do, but that would be Including chambers like that would be what I would want to do. Is Salish with white horse greens, including chambers. It's really tough because you can be really creative at chambers, but that walk is really fucking hard and that them having the holes that really look really similar to the eye was tough. So it's Salish number one White horse and chambers like neck and neck for two. And then gold mountain was was a lot of fun, like I Could see myself playing gold mountain every weekend. It's a muni, but it's. It's like. If that's $80, like and none of the like, none of these courses like Salish. If that's $100, one over some worth it. Chambers to do one time $330.

Speaker 1:

Yes, that's a hey, I got a question for you. Yeah, so if chambers wasn't a US open course, yeah, would you have thought the same thing about it? Or because it was on the US Open, yeah, that's tough. I mean Because you're putting two other courses ahead of Chambers, but you're saying it's a must-play if you're in the area. You got to play it just because it is a US Open track.

Speaker 2:

So if the USGA never went there, I don't know, it's hard because it's so different from the other ones. It's as close as you can get to banding without being abandoned in the area. As close as you're going to get to rough and tumble, baked out, rippled fairways, creative greens in the area that you're going to get. You know what I'm saying. So it's a different style of golf from everything that we play. Okay.

Speaker 1:

I'll try and ask a question again. If the US Open never went to Chambers, would you pay 300 bucks to play it?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I mean yeah, probably.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, yeah, okay.

Speaker 2:

I mean it's I always wanted to know. Well, is banding worth $300? Yes, so Chambers is close, very close to banding. It's similar, it's got a different vibe to it, same kind of flavor to it, different mystique. But if RTJ would have done a couple holes differently, that would have been amazing, you know? Yeah, dan just mentioned, I feel like, Chambers should be around 200.

Speaker 1:

I could see change. That was $130.

Speaker 2:

Thank you, Dan. Well, $330 is $50 in taxes.

Speaker 1:

I understand that, is it?

Speaker 2:

$280?

Speaker 1:

But you're not paying $280.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I would say no, I know, I know I would say it's $250. That's a $250. But if four of those holes were just a little bit different, that didn't seem the same. Number 10, and then, if you listen to what I said earlier, number 10 at Chambers was the greatest hole you played all week. That hole was almost 16, abandoned Almost.

Speaker 1:

Almost tears huh.

Speaker 2:

If that was on the water that would have been 16 abandoned. It was an amazing hole. Number 10 at Chambers was so sick.

Speaker 1:

All right, let's give everybody a break from Washington Golf and talk about the smoky skies in the Vegas Valley.

Speaker 5:

What's up guys? Mac Ontargo, the Chasing Daylight podcast. So everybody had a great weekend and stayed indoors for the most part. I mean we had bad air quality. If you got out to golf, you're brave, dealing with some unhealthy air quality across the Las Vegas Valley. It looks like we'll have some improvements to air quality Saturday and Sunday this upcoming weekend, but temperatures 105 to 106. Still very hot and make sure to hydrate if you're going to be out and about on the golf course. If you're riding you're better than walking because you're definitely going to not use as much energy out there. Temperatures again 105 to 106, staying dry, but a little gusty outside. Wind speeds 10 to 20 miles per hour. Have a great practice round on Saturday up in Alliante.

Speaker 1:

Dude smoke is ridiculous right now.

Speaker 2:

Oh, so I didn't really finish.

Speaker 1:

There was a couple more, I'm sorry.

Speaker 2:

Non-golf related.

Speaker 1:

Fire away so yeah.

Speaker 2:

So we went to Marine Thanks, Matt, by the way, Marine View Park, because I was like, hey, we got like 40 minutes, you guys can go smoke a joint near the water or whatever. We go down this thing and it's steep, really, really steep. And we came back and we were all out of breath. I was cracking up the entire time walking back up because we're all just fucking breathing heaviest, the heaviest I've ever seen anyone of us breathe. I mean it was completely banning trails without that fucking shuttle. It was funny Hard to tag him. I mean Bob almost drove us onto the tarmac at SeaTac because I told him. I told him I was like right at the light and he just keeps going through the light and we're almost he's like powering through a bobby NASCAR.

Speaker 1:

Did you drive? Do you ride shotgun?

Speaker 2:

I did ride shotgun.

Speaker 1:

Oh, Dan, you're so smart.

Speaker 2:

He goes and we crossed the light. I'm like dude, I said right at the fucking light and he's fucking just powering through this intersection and it was the entrance to the tarmac at SeaTac. Everything's orange and there's fucking barbed wire. I'm like what are you doing? And I'm like I'm like 10 minutes away, not necessarily, but like I needed to get there at six and this is like 555 and I'm like stressing out, so yeah.

Speaker 1:

He's trying to get to the gate directly.

Speaker 2:

We had the van in full effect. That's the only way to go. I know Robbie's a listener and he mentioned they go Tahoe, but Robbie's a van van player with us. But yeah, Bobby, NASCAR in full effect. But it was a fun one, Enjoyed it. Can't wait for the next one.

Speaker 1:

Trips with Bob are hilarious. All right. So golf, that just happened, the 3M open Again, that's another one.

Speaker 2:

I didn't watch Dan's cousin man, Dan's cousin coming through Lee Hodges.

Speaker 1:

Lee Hodges, tough go for JT, tough go for Harry.

Speaker 2:

I didn't pay too much attention, so JT missed the cut.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, he missed the cut. Thanks to Mike for picking Masiyama for me, because I was the only one that made the cut. Yeah, this is such a weird time for golf right now, because we're right after a major, before the playoffs. The guys are scrambling. They really could make this an exciting event this weekend because there's so much on the line for a lot of guys. I just don't know if they're going to be able to hype it up the way that they could. It's just something. It's not like the it's Sej Sej field. Is that? what the course is Right, I mean, it's not if they moved this to like a premier golf course and you know a well-known, isn't it Ronald Ross? I don't know, Is it? I don't know. I could be eating my own words right now.

Speaker 2:

Not sure, but we did play at Gene Bates this weekend, so that's pretty sick. Put the cricket sounds in there, yeah, really Well, that would. That was a funny thing this past weekend. No, design it, there we go. Yeah, gene Bates.

Speaker 1:

Gene Bates. Okay, write that down, gene Bates. So I this is another one I we played yesterday. I was up at 330 yesterday to get to trays by five. I woke up early and just stayed awake and drove out. We played coyote. So tournament was over by the time we were done and came home and kind of bedged out Again, watched some movies with the wife and it didn't really really just haven't been in a watching golf mood lately.

Speaker 2:

I haven't either.

Speaker 1:

I don't know, I don't know what's going on. Well, majors are done.

Speaker 2:

Major, there's nothing to be too excited about anymore.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, but I really wasn't that excited to watch the open. I mean it's, it's a major. I loved watching.

Speaker 2:

It's a lie that if it was tighter you would have.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah. Absolutely. Of course.

Speaker 2:

Of course you know if there's drama, and this is something we talked about last week with um Bushino and and um Torres, like we haven't really had that like really tight major where it was like a back and forth kind of race, and this major season was kind of like a little lackluster. Like the most exciting one was masters.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, Rom went in the masters.

Speaker 2:

And Rom still kind of ran away with it.

Speaker 1:

I mean Wyndham Clark's win, big win for him.

Speaker 2:

but yeah, but I mean that was kind of boring too. Like he was there, like we all knew it was kind of his, unless he blew up, you know. So um, it was Harman's, unless he blew up it was um who run PG, that was Brooks, like that was kind of cool to see, but he still kind of ran away with it too. He still ran away with it too, like the most exciting one was the masters. And like I want, I want to see next year's major season be fucking more drama.

Speaker 1:

We need drama in the majors.

Speaker 2:

That's what majors are.

Speaker 1:

Like you need some drama, man, I need some drama.

Speaker 2:

I don't want anyone to run away with it and that's nothing. I'm not trying to take anything away from Harman or Clark or Kepka or whoever Like. Whoever wins wins. You're the best player that week, but fucking step your game up. Let's let's get some drama for an exciting finish. That's that's what we want to see and that's why we love the majors, because those courses are supposed to be set up for the comebacks and the disasters, you know why do you think the I'm going to change the subject, Sorry.

Speaker 1:

Why do you think the PGA website does not show how much money the guys won on an event on the leaderboard? You have to go to the players page and look at their rounds and see what they want, instead of listing the payouts from top to bottom, like every other sports website in the world does. You got to go to ESPN to see who what 25th pay, you know, instead of going to the PGA website looking up the leaderboard, seeing the 25th, going to their page, going to their results, looking at the tournament. It's kind of stupid, drives me nuts. The reason I say that is because I was looking at the Ryder Cup, because Ryder Cup is coming down to the wire here and right now. The rankings is Sheffler, wyndham Clark, brian Harmon, brooks, xander and Cantlay are in the top six spots. Those are the automatic wins or automatic in Homa. Camion, jordan Speese, keegan Colmah, mark Hawa and Ricky round out. The next six spots that you know are hey, these guys earned it, typed captain's picks. Then you got Sam Burns, jt, danny McCarthy, kurt Kiddi, yama Wills, altors, harris, english, tony Finau, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. So I was like, how the hell do they determine the points for the Ryder Cup? And it is by money, but it's, it's rare, so I printed it off the website. So, in the 2022 season, because there's two years, you know, between Ryder Cups you get one point per every thousand dollars earned at the Masters, the PGA Championship, the US Open and the Open, and then one point per every 2000 earned at the Players Match Play Championship and the HSBC. In 2023, it's one point for a thousand dollars earned at a regular PGA Tour event beginning January one through the BNW Championship. Two points per 1000 earned for the majors. One and a half points per 1000 earned for all players that make the cut at the Masters, pga Championship, us Open and the Open. No points available at PGA Tour opposite field events. So it's heavy on what happens this year and I get that because you want guys that are playing well. But I mean Wyndham Clark and Brian Harmon are two and three and that's just. That just doesn't seem right to me. It doesn't seem right to me. And it's very heavy on what they've done this year.

Speaker 2:

Well, this goes back to Eric's prediction that the US is going to get whooped.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's, it's, it's out there, it's very possible. Yeah, I mean. But Brooks Capcom's fourth. Yeah, yeah. That's, that's only based on his major outings and the events he played. No, because he doesn't get any points for any PGA tour events last year. So he is in fourth place based on the four majors. I mean this year, does that seem right?

Speaker 2:

I mean, the majors are heavily weighted. That's what legacies are built off of and that's what I mean. They're the strongest fields you're going to get.

Speaker 1:

I understand that, but is that how you pick a writer cup team?

Speaker 2:

I mean that's how they do it. Yeah, so that's how you pick it. I mean, is it, is it right? I don't know.

Speaker 1:

That's what I'm asking. Is this is this the right way to pick a writer cup team.

Speaker 2:

It's funny because like golf is so it's. It's such a fluctuation it's it's very hard to determine.

Speaker 1:

So I did a little little spreadsheet crunching.

Speaker 2:

Of course you did, Scotty. Scott is home, that is. Welcome to the office.

Speaker 1:

Scotty Schaeffler. He didn't make the cut at the 2022 PGA championship. Everything else he has. If you just count those seven events, he's in third place.

Speaker 2:

So is he, is he in? But I mean, it's, it's.

Speaker 3:

yeah, of course he is, he's the number one, he's, he's almost twice as many points as the second place.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, when I'm Clark could double his and he would only have a thousand point lead it just, and that's because he's played so well this year. You know he's won a shit ton of money. He's won 40 million this year. I, I just, I don't know, I it seems like I mean, there's nobody else that has really stood out this season aside from from Scotty, and you know some of the European players that are on the other side. But it just, it just doesn't seem right that you know Ricky Fowler, who's having a breakout year, is 12th, but when I'm Clark is second, will Zalatoris is on this list at 17. I mean, and that's only based on last year's majors, because yeah, because he hasn't played this year. Yeah. So I mean, I don't know, I just think it could be Well, I mean that's where it's.

Speaker 2:

I mean it's kind of decent, like the situation where it's. It's the first, the six, the top six get in and then it's six captain's picks, right, yes, so I mean there's at least some fluctuation, you know, some availability to like move players around to you think fits with team or whoever in a like hot streak. So but yeah, I mean, and it's the same situation for the European team, correct? It's the six, and then six in their world rankings or in the in the complete world rankings, correct?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it's how they earned their points on the DP World Tour and majors yeah.

Speaker 2:

So I mean I mean that makes that makes it makes it fair for the most part, right. I mean you can, you could throw a tiger in there if you want to. I mean, or you could throw a fucking Darren. I just when.

Speaker 1:

I was looking at this and I see I see Wyndham Clark at two and three and kept it for and it's like I mean I get it. Yeah, I mean.

Speaker 2:

I get it. I mean, are you on the, are you on the like Wyndham Clark's not fitting, or you on the Kepke's not fitting side?

Speaker 1:

I'm on. I I don't see Wyndham Clark as our second best player for the writer Right.

Speaker 2:

OK, ok. I don't, but do you do either of you? No, I don't, but he did win a major and yeah, of course, of course he did. I'm not discrediting.

Speaker 1:

No, no, he's done.

Speaker 3:

Do the, do the rankings matter? I mean, whether he's in the top, maybe, maybe. Whether he's sixth or second Doesn't really matter, does it? Hmm, they're going to be in the top six, then yeah, yeah, if he wins a major. Sure, but I don't think the ranking, like we, don't really say he's the second best player on the team.

Speaker 1:

No, but if he's, if he's seven, I'm not like whoa, whoa he's seven. I'd be like, yeah, it's a good spot and that's not a guaranteed spot.

Speaker 2:

This goes back to what I was saying about the drama of the majors. Like Wyndham Clark feels like an anomaly, harmon feels like an anomaly to me, like they played their lights lights out that week. Do I feel like they should have won during the time frame and like what was going on in golf at that specific moment in time? No, but they did so they're awarded for it. But I mean, that's, it is what it is Like. It's they Wyndham Clark and Harmon feel like anomalies in the major winning situation to me and that's probably where you're coming from, because I don't feel like they were the ones to win, but they did win, so they're awarded for it, you know yeah, and, like I said, I'm not, I'm not crapping on their win. Yeah they, they beat everyone else in the field. They beat the strongest field. So I mean, if they're on Hot Street, great, but I guess that just means Europe is going to win. So that on Europe.

Speaker 1:

All right, let me look at this. So Brian Harmon, this year he's won eight million dollars so we'll go back to, we'll start this season only. So Century Champions, because he we got in, because does the way they changed the? Because he didn't win in twenty twenty?

Speaker 2:

two. Also, beds said you're drinking the best flavor of Red Bull, jeremy. What is that flavor? Zoa, that's not a red bull. This I'm yeah, Beds seeing things.

Speaker 3:

Oh, the rock sent me a sample, so trying them out.

Speaker 1:

All right. So T 32 in Hawaii, cut at the MX. T 42 in Phoenix. Cut at the Jennis this. Cut at the Arnold Palmer. Forty four the players championship. Cut at the Valspar. T 17 in match play. Cut at the Masters. T seven at Heritage. Cut at Wells Fargo. Cut at the PGA championship. T 29 at Charles Swab. Cut at the Memorial. T 43 at the US Open. Second at the Travelers. Ninth, the rocket mortgage. Twelfth of the Genesis and wins the open. Yeah does that sound anomaly? But I mean, if you, if you take away his open championship.

Speaker 2:

No.

Speaker 4:

I'm just saying no, I know that wasn't on there. No, he's not in.

Speaker 1:

No one's talking about him. Yeah, he's outside the top 12. Yeah. But, did you hear?

Speaker 2:

the heartfelt stories after I've been trying so fucking hard and like he's been grinding and blah, blah, blah.

Speaker 1:

I would love the commentators in the majors to really start emphasizing how big of a win this is for the right or cut potential Huge If it's a player, that is is applicable. You know. You know if it's a European player or an American player that wins, you know how massive it is that you're Harman, harman to find your spot on the team.

Speaker 2:

Harman's a great example of this. Like we, I feel like we see, like we see Wyndham Clark like kind of like in the mix a little more than we do see Brian Harman. Like we see Brian Harman more in the mix on the you know, like you know whatever, like the three M open type of things. Like Brian Harman to win the open is is a huge anomaly. It feels like, like, seems like a great dude. Like I went on to his Instagram page after he won. I was like he's a you know seems like a good dude Like he seems like a more deep South Kisner to me.

Speaker 1:

I thought it's hilarious. He's like I got a new tractor. I'm going to go mow some grass.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, that's the Louis Oost. He didn't comment right there, that's. That's a deep South, louis, you know.

Speaker 3:

I think, underdog I think some of this could be that this is the first Ryder Cup we've had with, without you know, Bryson, DJ Brooks, I mean obviously he's there. Yeah, it's going to be interesting. I mean this, this, this team like, if you look at that list is not. I mean it's, it's a totally different team. I mean Collins, not even what is Colin Markow? He's 11.

Speaker 1:

He was in, you know, top three four in the 2021.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, sanders there, of course. Patrick Calais, jordan Speets down towards the end, jt further down.

Speaker 1:

Not not there. And yeah, he's out, is it?

Speaker 3:

because is it some of that? You're used to these stacked US teams where you have DJ and all those guys. Yeah, it just doesn't look, it doesn't look the same. I mean you look at that list.

Speaker 1:

It's it's, it's, it's crazy. When you look at it this way, you're like where the hell of our American players at.

Speaker 3:

You know what the hell's going on Yep and our top guys aren't even playing well, I mean JT. No. I mean Ricky is climbing, but Colin Markowa, I mean he's, he's one, but Jordan Speets, max, even Max Homa, yeah. Max, he's not been doing much, and I think they're being replaced by some of these other guys that are winning.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and I mean hopefully, hopefully they're, they're grind continues and they're they're winning. I mean Wyndham.

Speaker 1:

Clark and Brian Harmon should be thanking Scotty Schaeffler that he did not play well in those events.

Speaker 2:

I mentioned this in the van and the PNW. I was like if Scotty made like eight more putts this year, he would have had four more wins.

Speaker 1:

We would be. We would be talking about one of the greatest seasons ever 100 percent. If it's, I mean it's already one of the greatest seasons. Yeah, I mean, you know the history of golf.

Speaker 2:

He's like T2, t3, t4, t2.

Speaker 1:

T3. Top 15 machine yeah, yeah, top five machine. All right. So let's look at Ryder Cut. The playoffs are coming. This is last week, so top 70 get in first year for this, which I love it, by the way, I'm so glad they're doing this. Cyrus in the house hey, what's up, cyrus? He played when recently, joe, I did see that. Yeah. So players on the out looking in right now Seventy one, ben Taylor, seventy two, garrett Higo, seventy three, kh Lee, seventy four, david Lingmer, seventy five, davis Thompson, shane Lowry, seventy six, justin S Seventy seven, sh Kim, seventy eight, jt seventy nine and Adam. Scott Now all is 80. Adam Scott eighty one. Joel Damon eighty two. Danny Willett eighty three. Harry's down to eighty six. Joseph Brannan eighty seven. These guys got to have a great tourney to make it happen. The last we'll do the last 10 in Stam. Sam Stevens is 60. Aaron Rye sixty one. Sam Ryder sixty two. Bill Hossler sixty two. The other day he's at sixty three. Stephen Yeager sixty four. Matt Naismith sixty five.

Speaker 3:

Vincent Norman, jj Spahn, ben Griffin, cam Davis and Austin Ekrot is at number seventy right now, if Adam Scott doesn't make it, this will be the first time he does not make the playoffs in since it started, I think Since it started, yeah, wow.

Speaker 1:

Wow, got to get rid of the blue putter. Got to get rid of the blue putter. Speaking of putters, joe, oh, let's get the the Tinker Town shit going right now. Yeah, I the mayor came out, mayor came out. I'll tell you a little bit about what happened at Coyote.

Speaker 2:

So I, yeah, I'm curious to hear a little bit about Coyote, because my sales manager, fernando, went out there for the first time ever.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's the weekend and he was out there the same yesterday was we were. Yeah, I saw his card.

Speaker 2:

You saw him All right, yeah, no, I didn't see him, but.

Speaker 1:

I saw that he played.

Speaker 2:

So he said the Greens were really really fast. They were fast, yeah, yeah. They were in the best shape you've ever seen it.

Speaker 1:

The Greens were beat up. That was the only thing. If, if, fairway, t-boxes, bunkers, everything up to the Greens was fantastic, absolutely. Were there any crickets?

Speaker 2:

Because should Cyrus go back out there? I tried to get Cyrus to play with us. He didn't want to go, cyrus.

Speaker 1:

Come on, man, I don't hear you listening.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he, I tried to convince him. But hey, cyrus, you definitely go now.

Speaker 1:

Go now.

Speaker 2:

It's good, it's very much worth it.

Speaker 1:

We'll pay for your tea.

Speaker 2:

Tell me if you don't like it I don't know, I don't know. Tell me if you don't like it.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, Found a funny thing out about Chad the Chad. He is Chad. Yeah, the Chad, he is deathly afraid of snakes and we found that out Because there was a snake. A little garden snake came across car path. I said, oh, there's a cute little snake, and he was gone, gone, like gone I was, I was trying to get it, you know, and he was gone, you know. And then he told me story why he doesn't like snakes, which I totally make sense. But yeah, that was funny. No, kylie is in Fantastic. The problem with the greens and it's not every green and like Revere Lexington type Nastyness, just the people that don't know how to fix Div is properly or they don't fix them at all.

Speaker 2:

Dead areas.

Speaker 1:

Dude, it's so many black spots, it's just dead. You can't. You can't fix them. You know there's nothing to fix, it's just a hole.

Speaker 2:

Speaking of fixing ballmarks, I feel like no money in Washington fixes ballmarks. Not as bad as. Revere but like At least there's someone that comes out there after the days rounds or over and they fix them a little bit, but People don't fix them right away. I don't think people care anymore.

Speaker 1:

No, they don't, they don't, they don't break bunkers. I mean, I found yesterday, I was in a lot of bunkers yesterday and, man, every single one of them needed to be raked where somebody had just was in front of us playing. It was in the bunker, it was bad, but there was an AGT event out there. They were behind us and, um, but all their team markers and the pins were stupid, I mean just crazy pins. Trey and I both said that man, there was so many pin locations we'd never seen before. I was telling Jeremy, before you hopped on Joe, that on nine and 18, it was like almost on the apron on the front edge. Just mitches, crazy placements. Yeah, mitches revenge tightpins on some of them 14 was on the very far back left, which was ridiculous, um, but I mean they rolled true and they rolled good. I mean it was nice playing on fast like real putting service greens, fairway to everything was, I mean, just, it's just pure, it's just pure. But I decided, um, to bring the long neck out for for a little show, just to just to see how, how I putted with it. And uh, it wasn't bad. Um, I think I had 31, 32, 31 putts um, which, considering the pin placements and those greens, wasn't bad. Um, just something just didn't feel right. Uh, got home and put it in the backyard with the mallet and I'm like, yeah, this, this is what feels good right now. So little experiment over, but this, this is the big story. Right here, this little dude right here, callaway Chrome soft. So I've been playing the Odin golf ball. I'm completely happy with the old golf ball on my 2023, you know, uh, goals for the season. One was to pick and stay with the ball. I'm I'm happy with the Odin, I'm glad that they're, you know, helping out with a VGN and uh, I like what they're doing and I like the way they're playing and uh, I like what they're doing and I like their ownership. I like everything about them and it's a. It's a good ball that holds up well, Um, but I I want to save them for tournament. So I just took a couple of sleeves of some extra balls that I have through them in the bag. Um played, played an Odin to start and was playing decent. You know I had a couple of bad shots here and there, but that is to be. You know, out there the uneven lies. Um hit some good shots and and was happy with how I was playing, hit some bad shots, wasn't happy. Yeah, d yeah. But on the, uh, the 12th tee, I shanked a ball dude way out into the where the houses would be. It was horrible, just a horrible pass at the ball. So I go over, reaching the bag, pull this out and, uh, so that's fire. So I play that whole, go to 13, get on the tee and absolutely bomb to drive for me, for me, uh to 90 off the tee and I, from the white teas, I can typically get to the bunker on 13. Um, never have I got to it from the blue teas, let alone get past it by 20, 30 yards, and I was like, oh whoa, that's that's wild. Um wasn't expecting that. Uh, 14 hit another good shot, but that was that was it, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was motivated on me. Um 16 bombed it off the tee and 18 bombed it off the tee and I was like what the fuck? So I got home, went on 18 birdies, looked at my distances Average tee shot with the Odin was 255, average tee shot with and so now I'm like what the fuck do I do? Switch balls, and so, yeah, case. Yeah, no, it's not a case. You know I sent Greenlee a message. I'm like I need a therapy session, you down as erratic as you are mentally as erratic as I am mentally, I did not need this to happen at all. Was not ready for it to happen, didn't want it to happen, but it happened. Um. So, needless to say, at Alliantay this Saturday, uh, chrome soft will be back in the bag and we'll see what happens. See what happens. It was very interesting, though, and Eric said he goes dude, simple math, you can't not, Because if it was five yards, no big deal, but you know you're talking 35 yards, that's 30, you know 30 to 35 yards, that's, that's a lot. Yeah, so we'll find out Saturday if that is the case, because the balls that I hit, wow, I was like shocked at how how well it did.

Speaker 2:

It was impressive though you didn't feel like like the core was off center or anything like that.

Speaker 1:

Well, no, because because they have their new precision alignment technology, or whatever the hell it's called, I can. My golf Sprite spent $25 million on to redo it, so I got a couple of things I want to showcase. This is great for all you guys that have stuck around on YouTube. You get a little preview of this stuff. Um, first up, shout out Mark Hubbard, who is represented by the sports management company that is in the same building as true and new level. Uh, he has his own brand of peanuts, uh, hubs nuts. Uh, home cooked salted Virginia peanuts. So, uh, really good, really good.

Speaker 2:

So uh, did you bring us some?

Speaker 1:

I'm holding it in my hand. That's for us. You can have it if you want, you want it, he's holding our nuts in his hand, I'm holding. I'm holding your nuts in my hand. Uh, next up, I want to give some love to no dirt golf. Taking this out the wrapper. These just came in back up a little bit. These are the the new Vegas golf network towels.

Speaker 3:

They have a slit in the middle.

Speaker 1:

No, no, no catty slit, but it's got their, it's got the brush. You know the brush. Let me look at the camera and do this, got the brush and then I like to see it's on the other side.

Speaker 3:

I'd like to see a ghost towel versus that towel. Showdown with you and Cyrus. Yeah, let's do it, cyrus, come on. I don't see a magnet on that towel, no magnet.

Speaker 1:

Don't need a magnet, Whoa whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

Speaker 2:

Don't need a magnet.

Speaker 4:

Pick up your fucking towel, you lazy bastard I do like the idea, so these are available for school, yeah.

Speaker 1:

And it it works. It works really well. Uh, so these are available to VGA members on the VGN website. Uh, got a lot sold already. Thank you guys for the support. And see what's next. Oh, uh, beds, close your ears for a couple of minutes. Um, I absolutely love the equator socks and the only thing that I wear when I golf. But stance reached out to me on the breakfast ball and they have a new line of performance socks. Uh, this is the feel three, 60. This is the casual sock. It's not really a performance sock, just a casual sock. And this is the uh fresh tech. So they're odor resistant and moisture wicking, and so I wore a pair yesterday out at coyote. Pretty damn good sock, pretty damn good sock. So maybe that's why you get it to 85.

Speaker 3:

Hey, you know what? It was a sock.

Speaker 4:

It was a sock, I bet earmuffs, you can take your mouth off.

Speaker 1:

Um and I wore those with these the new ripstop twos from true. He just came in. Joe's not a fan of the design. I kind of like it Looks more like a sneaker than a golf shoe Like a dad shoe maybe. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Little little new balance. Look to it, Joe. That what you're saying.

Speaker 1:

No, new balance is a pretty tight, but no, Look I love true.

Speaker 2:

I love true, but Not a big fan of those currently. What don't you like about it? Uh? I don't know I just think I just think like the, the toe thing and then the heel cup, like I would prefer like a like a one piece kind of situation, maybe if that heel cup went to the toe cup.

Speaker 1:

uh, it looks a little disjointed to me this part Yep, yep, the heel cup, if it went all the way to the toe cup.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, like if it was black all the way there. Yeah, I think that would be better. Too much separation.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. Yeah, I think so, I just get a marker and just like draw it in and yeah, you can.

Speaker 2:

Pretty, pretty damn comfortable, but they make good shit.

Speaker 1:

I mean yeah, yeah. These, these are these were nice, so shout out to them.

Speaker 2:

I have no doubt those are. Those are great, great golf shoes.

Speaker 1:

And then also got uh, they also sent a pair of their new slides. Yeah, so uh, yeah or those uh, yeah, their slides. Yeah, I don't, I, I'm not, I'm not a huge.

Speaker 2:

I'm not a huge.

Speaker 1:

I like my open toe slides. You know I'm a big fan of open toe slides, Um, but I love the design and the look. Um, if that was interchangeable?

Speaker 2:

uh, interchangeable. What are the toe tabs? What do they call them? This right here.

Speaker 1:

So you can take that and swap it out. There's the dead man right there, so that you can. Uh, you know, I think you're right.

Speaker 2:

If the, if they, if they were open toe, they'd probably be a little bit better If they were, if they were open to they they.

Speaker 1:

they have a little breather thing right here, but nothing on this side, and I don't know if it was because it was 115 degrees outside. Yeah, that's probably the best time. But my, my, my dog's got a little hot.

Speaker 2:

Those are P and W shoes 100% 100%.

Speaker 1:

I think that's all I got for the goodies Um, oh, hey, uh, gave some of these out at the event and Coasters, biggest golf network coasters. Ah, all right, that's that's what I got, All right, Uh, so let's, let's go. I did some uh, uh, more spreadsheet and with the uh, our picks and everything. Let's see where we're at with that.

Speaker 3:

Congratulations to everyone. That's still on, by the way. Yeah, you guys are hanging tough.

Speaker 1:

I appreciate it, it's, it's a malls thing. All right, so for this, let's see. So the open championship, uh, let's see where it's where do we go? Here we are. Uh, I had Fitzpatrick he finished 41st. Uh, joe had Tommy Fleetwood he finished 10th and Jeremy had Victor Hovland he finished 13th. So Joe had Tommy Fleetwood and Jeremy had Victor Hovland he finished 13th. So Joe won that week. Um, oh wait, the Barracuda. I had Patrick Rogers, he finished second, lost in a playoff. That could have catapulted me, but nope, thanks for losing in the playoff. Um, actually won that one, right. Right, I'm getting talking to myself, joe, actually, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I actually won yeah.

Speaker 1:

Um so, let's see, uh, joe had Mark Hubbard, he finished 10th hey.

Speaker 3:

Hubbard's nuts.

Speaker 1:

And Jeremy had Justin Suh who finished 34th this last week. Jeremy night I didn't get to pick. We had people picking for us. Uh, sahithigala was Chris's pick for you, jeremy, he did not make the cut, thanks. Justin Thomas was a Joe's pick who missed the cut, and uh, mike picked Matt's the Alma for me and uh, he finished 30th, so I won the week. Thanks, mike, really appreciate that. Uh, Jeremy still has a nice lead. He's 971 points ahead of me and Joe is 27 points Back.

Speaker 2:

Of me, only 27. Let's go, yeah.

Speaker 1:

Only 27 points out of second place. Uh, we're getting annihilated in the one and done with birdies and bourbon.

Speaker 2:

Because you guys look for some bourbon? Yeah, I'll look for some. You guys cannot make picks.

Speaker 1:

It's ridiculous.

Speaker 3:

Either you forget or pick it, or I just pick a terrible.

Speaker 2:

Hey, for the most part we've done pretty good with making picks.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, Like nobody's really forgotten, except Jeremy one time, except for my British open. I forgot one time as well.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I haven't forgot. So yeah, you guys have to buy the bottle of bourbon.

Speaker 1:

Uh, no, because clearly, I have a huge lead. Actually I don't. I'm only 400,000 points ahead of you, um $400,000. I'll keep going to Corey's. I mean it's gotta be, it's gotta be something.

Speaker 2:

I mean we're obviously going to lose Like it's, it's probably pretty. Hey never say never, that's true, but we could go one, two in the wind and we but I think the bet was that we have to get a like local, kind of like store pick, kind of bourbon for them. So I'll keep my eyes out when I go to Corey's. All right, keep your eyes out, cause I know they've had some things, all right, so the wind them. Uh Jill, you want to?

Speaker 1:

you ready for the odds? If you give me 30 seconds, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Maybe 20, maybe 20. 20 seconds ago.

Speaker 1:

Uh, we covered the playoff.

Speaker 2:

Oh, hey, Rio. Seco, we got a two man event, we need two players.

Speaker 1:

If anybody, if anybody Is listening and wants to play Rio Seco on the 13th? Um, we need two players. It's a two man event. Uh, two man. Uh, best ball Um, rio Seco, early morning tea times not that expensive considering the payouts that we're going to have. So hit me up. If you want to play, filled two spots for that, all right. Uh, when them championship? Uh, surprise me.

Speaker 2:

I'm not going to be able to play. So when they're going to be able to play, uh, if the game is going to be in chip, uh, surprisingly, wyndham Clark is not playing this. If I don't, I don't see him in the field, but if I was Wyndham Clark. This is one I'd probably want to play Right. I mean, isn't Wyndham a sponsor of his? I would think so. Yeah, I don't see him.

Speaker 1:

I thought they were running commercials to him, cause like what.

Speaker 2:

I mean I'd be like what if my name was flubber, tubber or whatever on our celeb? Uh, and the 81 climb, the all our everything Um, they were starting off, I know were Ted or yeah, they were nice to me, it was awesome, it was great. Quatro number six Alex Smalley, bo Hoster 45-1. Harris English, chris Kirk, billy Horschul 50-1. Akshay Batia 60-1. Taylor Benderith 70-1. Garry Kago 80-1. Mackenzie Hughes 90-1. Ryan Palmer 100-1. All the way at the bottom we got 250-1. Zach Blair been playing decently.

Speaker 1:

He had a good round, yeah.

Speaker 2:

Adam Long, ryan Moore shout out true, eric VanRoyen and Peter Maltnoddy.

Speaker 1:

All right.

Speaker 2:

Baby crying in the background.

Speaker 1:

Oh, is that Quinn?

Speaker 2:

Queen and Poppy.

Speaker 1:

Queen and Poppy. Okay, so let's see. Does JT have it in him to pull this off? Oh man. I don't know. You know what, since I was, you know, is Ryan Moore playing.

Speaker 2:

Yes, he's 250-1.

Speaker 1:

Okay, let's take Ryan Moore, since I was at the true office, the deepest picked ever, the deepest picked we've had. Let's do it. Where's my? Oh? No, that's not it.

Speaker 2:

He's at the bottom.

Speaker 1:

No, I'm trying to find the damn cash register. It's cash register. There it is RIMO 250-1. This is the one that could put me over the top.

Speaker 2:

You know what ends at 50 to one right.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I know, but still I don't care. Rimo, let's do it Okay. So let's see, Jeremy, you're ahead of Joe in the standing, so you get to pick All right.

Speaker 3:

As a self-proclaimed Travis Matthew ambassador, I'm going to be selecting another Travis Matthew ambassador Burns Amber 22-1.

Speaker 1:

22?

Speaker 2:

22.

Speaker 1:

Oh, I put you in the wrong spot, burns, jeremy.

Speaker 2:

Joe, just for the full gusto and going for it on the 18th hole, because it is potentially match play when he's playing, I'm going to go 33-1. Mr JT, because JT's probably the most the cut, the JT you know of.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, Cal's probably going to pick him in the one and done so, don't pick him. What was this odds?

Speaker 2:

33-1.

Speaker 1:

33-1. All right, there is our picks. Man, been a long one. We had a lot to talk about, so glad to be back. Looking forward to getting out this week, getting in some practice playing the practice round. You guys got five. Hey, you're in first place in five iron, if you saw that.

Speaker 2:

I have no idea where.

Speaker 1:

Okay it still only shows the standings for one team. It shows team two is in first place and team one has no points.

Speaker 2:

So we have to ask her about that when you're there. Well, if it's a four person trip to Conkundigcampo then That'd be cool. But yeah, we played really well last week. Me and Bob lit it up last week.

Speaker 1:

Nice, nice. So you got Joe. Are you on like a hiatus since you skipped town on the wife and kids for golf?

Speaker 2:

No, not necessarily. I just need an early one. I'm just gonna need an early one.

Speaker 1:

Just an early one Like a sixer. Like a sixer or 630. 9 o'clock, not early enough.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

I think that's a little too late If you find something like that. That's what I need to.

Speaker 2:

Well, I was talking to Trey a little bit ago. I sent seven, 10 at Mountain Falls potentially which might be able to pull off on Sunday. We'll see, but I need an early joint. And in Vegas golf news. In Vegas golf superintendent agronomist news.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah.

Speaker 2:

Darden's garden is leaving the horse Darden's garden is moving. He's going to. This is his last week at the horse Going up the angel part, which is a good, good move for him. Super proud of him, I think. I think he did a lot of great work out there while the horse and hopefully it continues.

Speaker 1:

I think they're going to find out how awesome he was. I think so A week after he's gone, yep.

Speaker 4:

I think they're going to figure that out. Yeah, oh shit.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I think.

Speaker 1:

Well, hopefully he's got somebody coming in.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I wanted to ask him who's coming next. I mean, but good for him, man, good move for him. I think Absolutely so. Yeah, I told him once he gets settled he's going to come back on the podcast. Of course he's down. So once he, once he figures out the intricacies of angel park, we'll get him back on. I know Jen wants to get us on up there and yeah, we need to do that. But yeah, I think it's going to be an individual episode kind of situation, because he goes pretty deep into your personal golf life. Oh shit, but we can obviously, of course go out there altogether.

Speaker 1:

Jeremy would have to talk that would be the worst.

Speaker 3:

It'll be the unraveling of his success. So, jeremy, tell me about yourself.

Speaker 1:

I play golf.

Speaker 3:

I like to play. Sometimes I like food.

Speaker 1:

You want to talk BMWs? We can do it. Yeah, do you want?

Speaker 2:

to change your podcast to BMWs.

Speaker 1:

Ok so we I'll go ahead.

Speaker 2:

No, no, go ahead. I was just on transition.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. So Yana Wilson, who's going to Oregon, she signed with the sport jays and she for an NIL deal Kind of big news. Same company that represents the LSU gymnast Olivia Dunn, or Dune Sabrina Nescu, famous New York Liberty basketball player. Big deal. And so we were talking about this on the drive back from Coyote. Do you think it would be an interesting episode to get her dad on to talk about the process of raising a sports phenom like she is right now in women's golf, the decision to go to college, the decision to sign with a sports agency for the NIL deal and what went into them deciding that route. Do you think that would be an interesting episode? Totally.

Speaker 2:

OK, I mean it's golf related.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I mean, I know he's been at her side this whole time. He's an amazing dad.

Speaker 2:

If you could have got Earl Woods on the podcast 20 years ago, or who Was that I mean? Yeah, a while ago. Yeah, I mean yeah.

Speaker 1:

I mean it relates to golf. I would love to hear it because I think that would be an interesting conversation.

Speaker 2:

Totally. I mean, I know we've had her on and I mean, was that like a year or two ago, two years ago almost? I think it would be interesting, obviously diving deep into the investment that goes into it as well.

Speaker 1:

Oh, the amount of time.

Speaker 2:

The amount of time, the amount of money, like it's Travel.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, just it's a whole other world for people out there.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and she's probably like in the 5% of parents or children that are trying to do it and you know it's a huge, it's a gamble Really, it really is, I mean. I mean a lot of people believe in their kids, but she's backing it up, she's back in a totally.

Speaker 1:

She's got a hundred career wins. It's ridiculous.

Speaker 2:

Absolutely. But what if she didn't? Oh, I know.

Speaker 1:

And that's the, that's the other thing, those parents that are doing it, that they're not Right, that's what I'm saying. Crazy. Hey, I feel bad for hockey parents, like soccer parents. I feel bad for it because you're out there in the heat and playing and it's, it's competitive in the tournaments and the travel and everything, but because my youngest has been taken ice skating lessons at the new arena in downtown Henderson and watching those kids lug around they have like suitcases. These massive duffel bags what a gear. And I'm like Good Lord, I mean, they, those things, they're huge. You could stuff bodies in there. It's insane. That's, that's some dedication though those Poof man, man, man, man. One of the thing I was going to talk about, what was it? Oh, I can't remember. Dammit, it was right. Is that? Is that, Joe? You got anything else? We talked about the two man.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, not really All right.

Speaker 1:

Hopefully Eric ships out my golf shaft that I'm waiting for. Greenlee, you still listening. Probably not Sent him a. It was so funny I had a wrong email address for him and because I told him, hey, I sent you the shipper, and he's like I never got it, I'm like this is the email I have. He's like no, it's not right, my god damn it. I was probably why you're not getting any of the golf genius stuff too. So I changed the email and send it to him, right. And he goes, hey, what do I do with this? And I went print it out, tape it to the box, drop it off at the post office or go to your UPS store and they'll take care of it. He's like no dumbass, the golf genius stuff. And I was like, oh man, I really made you seem like you don't know what the hell you're doing. So, eric, I'm sorry, I know you know how to ship a package, so please ship it. Yeah, and I think that's it. So there's a really good chance that I take this gift card that I still have from winning the VGN championship last week or last year and stock up on some of these.

Speaker 2:

You've held on to yours for a year or two.

Speaker 1:

Well, I just don't know what to spend it on yet. I was seriously going to use it to maybe get a Gen 6 driver, but the person I was ordering it from I guess he's busy About an Amazon gift card with mine to buy Theo's bed Nice. There you go.

Speaker 2:

Logical, I guess.

Speaker 1:

Got to do what you got to do. All right, Joe, let's bring it home and ease these people's minds.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, thanks for tuning in to probably the second or third longest Chasen Day Live podcast episode in history Two hours. Wow.
